Has anyone found any type of loan to pay for your coding programs at Andrews or Career Step that has lower payments than the school payment plans? I'm not saying their price is unreasonable. I just can't afford the payments or to pay outright.

Since Andrews has a 0% interest rate, you're really not going to get a better deal -- yes, you could perhaps get lower payments through a loan at, say, a bank, but you'll pay more in the end as far as total cost goes. I would suggest just saving up for an increased down payment that would make your monthly payments suitable to your budget.

Career Step worked with me on a payment plan, I am assuming Andrews would as well. They let me spread my payments out over 12 months, for me that was affordable, and it was interest free. I don't remember if I put money down; if I did, it wasn't much. If you get a regular bank loan, you are going to have to pay interest. If you want to do it, talk to the school, they are usually pretty accommodating.

Although you may have asked this before and I may have already recommended this (my brain is tired from so much studying and work), I will say it again. Here is what I did to come up with a down payment. Number one, I stopped buying my daily iced coffee for a year or so (saved that money in an account). Number two, I had a yard sale and sold things that I obviously didn't need. Number three, I colored my own hair for about a year (big savings and also saved that money in an account). This allowed me to come up with a down payment for school and now my monthly payments are reasonable. Don't get me wrong, money is still tight, but where there's a will there is a way. Take it from someone who knows. Good luck!

My company is no longer including spaces in the line count. The line rate has gone up a bit, but not enough to compensate for that loss in the character count. the time they will be paying UE. If they fire ya, eventually UE will run out. If they keep you as an employee, UE could go on a long time, on and off. Maybe this says nothing good about the overall work situation, if they are willing to let MTs go. Seriously. Why do you withhold this information? Would it not make more sense to post that right at the start so people know if they are even willing to test with you? It wastes your time, doesn't it, to review tests and resumes if your pay rate is not acceptable to people? Or it wastes someone else's time to grade the tests, then wastes the hiring person's time to review the information and make an offer if someone knows they won't ...

Just found this very interesting article about how MTSOs should consider charging by the minute instead of by the line. I just got a solicitation that an MTSO in Florida is for sale. It gives a breakdown of their accounts (not by name)showing how much they are charging the provider and how much they are paying the MT. For VR, they are getting 11 to 11.5 cpl and only paying the MT 4 cpl. FYI ...
