to fill out and return before phone interview.  Was excited at first.  Now hesitant to continue process.  Anyone encouraging words  as to whether this could be a good move.  Anything at all would be helpful. TIA

Can you elaborate as to why you're now hesitant? - nm

in MTSO in almost 5 years, there were some problems which led me to look for other work, but that seems to maybe resolved, they really leave you alone and let you do your work unless you really flub up don't really hear anything from them, as long as you adhere pretty much to schedule they don't say anything as long as you don't abuse it, as long as you get close to line requirement that pretty much is okay and right now all that sounds pretty good, except for have to work a weekend day and just tired of having my weekends blown, with NEMT have to go through training process, learn new everything, taking a cut in pay, not sure how flexible I can get my schedule. So I think may just be better to stay where I am because I don't know if it would be better somewhere else. Basically, I think I am just burned out doing this work for the past 40 years. I don't know that a change of MTSO would fix that. I may 2 more years of this and do early retirement. I guess I am just pretty screwed up. Been doing this too long and seeing this once great job going down the drain. That's it in a nutshell.

why you have not made a change, etc - ihaveseenitall

It's actually quite interesting to see different perspectives. I too have 40+ years of being an MT and have a totally different outlook--don't think being an MT has'gone down the drain,' just different. Adaptation is necessary to survive.

You're really not wanting to make changes, so if you only have 2 more years you want to stick it out, maybe wait and see if the changes you think have been made at your current MTSO have indeed happened and stay where you are. Sometimes, the grass is not always greener over there.....

If you only have 2 years left and are able to make a decent paycheck, I would just stay where you are. I made a change after 8 years and thought the new company was going to be much better because they have had a really good reputation. It has not turned out that way and now I am praying an interview I have next week that is not anywhere close to this industry goes well and I can leave it for good.

Just lucky to even get an interview seeing here as they do not hire in certain states. They do pay low, but depends on your account and shortcut program and the time spent learning a new account. Hard to start over. Feel the pain. Heard from a distant coworker that she likes working there and she is left to do her work, so that is a plus, but they only pay 7cpl. Don't know if they train you, or how the training is, but they seem sound okay at best. It would all depend on where she is right now though too. Bigger company and benefits...those are a plus. Seniority and a 401k, only 2 years left, and making a decent wage, then probably stay where you are...but then again maybe sailing into retirement is better. Surely not a decision of a top executive.

Best company I have ever worked for. Love it! Love it! Love it!

thank you, loved the feedback, I think - sm

I'll go ahead with interview since I have been lucky enough to get that far. According to what I have seen on this board there are certain states that do not qualify for a job with this company for whatever reason. I may see if I can get a split shift and do before and after what I already have going on and just see how it goes and if is works OK and if not I am not really losing anything and I will still have my current work. I am just afraid if I give up what I have first and go with it and it doesn't work out for me or I don't really like it, then I would be out of work all together. I appreciate all comments given. I enjoy MTStars, even though we really no anyone one or maybe very few, it's always good to come here and ask for advice, see what is going on and get feedback on these companies pros and cons. Thank again

NEMT Testing?
Feb 28, 2015

So, did anyone ever receive a job offer from NEMT? I tested at 2 a.m., after working two other shifts, in order to meet their 24-hour deadline.  Wasn't feeling very "elite," shouldn't have even submitted it, but didn't want to be a no-show. ...

Passed Testing
Sep 19, 2011

I just passed testing with Breitner.  I am excited about being offered a position with standard transcription.  Anyone willing to share good/bad?  I would like to accept their offer, but now-a-days quite a nervous nelly.  Just have to work 15 more years until retirement and would love that to be with one more company!  And before anyone says it, I have researched the archives......  ...

If You Work As An IC, Do You Still Get W2 Forms
Mar 21, 2012

taken out of your paycheck each pay period, or do you have to figure all of that out yourself?  If so, do you think it's worth it to be an IC, or not worth it? If you're a non-married IC, how do you deal with medical insurance?  Does the IC pay cover the difference?  If you go without, how do you deal with doctor bills?  Anything else I should know about being an IC?  I've always been an employee, but some of the IC jobs look tempting, and I'm thin ...

IRS Won't Be Mailing Tax Forms Next Year
Sep 28, 2010

A man pick up federal tax form 1040 at a post office in Palo Alto, Calif., Wednesday, April 15, 2009. (AP Photo/Paul Sakuma) WASHINGTON — Don't look for tax forms and instructions in your mailbox next year. The Internal Revenue Service has decided to stop mailing them because so many people now file electronically. The Washington Post reports on its website Monday that the IRS expects to save about $10 million a year by eliminating mailing. More than 96 million people ...

What Happened To Standard Forms?
Sep 22, 2011

Suddenly we have new QA and it's gotten crazy! We have some new PA's that dictate things so out of order as compared to the "norm" and QA wants us to give it to them instead of making reports alike as we were trained to do.  I've had some dictate drug allergies in review of systems and medications in the plan and QA wants this. I don't get it. I just don't understand how a doctor can know to check the plan for what meds a patient is on.  I also have a PA that ...

FILLING THE GAP W/ Other Forms Of Transcription
Nov 17, 2011

Wondering if anyone out there has ever thought of filling the gap by moving into other forms of transcription... As EMR increases, pay dwindles and opportunities for traditional transcription diminish, I'm thinking that it might be wise to broaden my scope a bit. I've thought about court reporting (as a broad spectrum...not just actually in the court room) and other forms of transcription other than within the medical community. Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this or oth ...

Filling In Forms. How To Charge?
Dec 23, 2014

A doctor wants me to do PFTs from a premade template he created.  It is about a page long.  It would involve typing the clinical history (2 lines or so) and filling in a lot of blanks.  He does not want to pay my line rate that I get for typing his office notes, but wants me to give him a flat charge per report that is much less than what I would get for typing dictation.  Any advice on what I should price this at? ...

Accepted A Job Transcribing For Legal And Insurance Letters And Forms.
Mar 26, 2014

I applied for a job with a company and was hired.  The start pay is just okay, but increases as your line count increases and  I think this is a good way for me to get my foot in the door and experience with working with other types of transcription and jobs.  It is straight typing and involves insurance and legal matters and forms.  If anyone wants to know more about it, I will be happy to let you know.  I start in April.  ...

NEMT, Seriously?
Aug 04, 2010

Has anyone taken the IC pre-hiring test for NEMT?  It's four dictations and a fill-in-the-blank.  Like lots of other MTs, I'm trying to find some extra $$$ because my primary has been running low on work lately.  I thought I did quite well, only one dictation did I leave three blanks because it was ESL and although I'm usually proficient with ESL, we all know it takes time to acclimate yourself to the dictator.  They sent me a polite e-mail this ...

Aug 07, 2010

Just days after doubting myself a bit and worrying about not finding more work, I landed a great IC gig yesterday!  Got my resume out there and timing is everything.  Better pay, opportunity to advance, straight transcription, and most of all less chance of running out of work.  To all the MTs out there struggling and staying with a company that sucks, it is possible to get out.  It's taken me 2-1/2 years of doing IC to get to this point.  Keep pushing and never g ...

My NEMT Experience
Feb 22, 2011

Just wanted to post my experience with NEMT for everyone.  For me this is an absolutely fantastic place to work.  Basically, if you can produce good quality work and want to be appreciated for it then this would be a good fit. What you've heard about them being picky is true.  If you want to work for them you better bring your A game and you have GOT to be able to accept constructive criticism.  BUT, the QA is very consistent, fair and helpful.  Not to mention real ...

My Experience With NEMT
Apr 02, 2011

I thought I would let everyone know the experience I had with NEMT.  I have never had an experience quite like this one.  Do not assume when you are hired that you HAVE the job.  I was hired as an IC MT for NEMT.  I started my orientation, which is basically training, not this last Monday but the Monday before.  You get on at 7 am cst and stay on until 1 pm cst.  You have to have a minimum of 5 reports during that time, which was not possible except for one day.&nbs ...
