If you are looking for a good job go to SoftScript, Inc. I have been there for about 6 months now and I have to say that they are an awesome company. The system is user friendly, the staff is fantastic and eager to help AND they pay good rates ON TIME. I have referred several friends and they all have joined me at SoftScript.

Do you mind sharing with us what their pay rates are? Do they do traditional and speech and if so, what are their rates for each? I'm always looking for good companies who are fair ..... always have a backup plan. Anymore info you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

I worked for them for 3 years. Had dozens of accounts and ran out of work constantly. The last year a day did not go by that we weren't out of work for hours at a time. Funny, cuz I left about 5 months ago.

I am not sure but I think they only do "run over" work. I don't think they actually have an account that is all theirs.

It is straight typing though, so if you hate editing, it is a good.

What is their pay structure?

Do they hire as employee status or only IC?

When you say "no accounts that are theirs" do you mean they only provide overflow support to their clients? So, in other words, their clients have their own inhouse staff and SoftScript MTs just back them up?

Pay was 8 cpl typing and 5 cpl for editing (which only QA did).

When I was there it was employee only.

I am pretty sure, but not 100% positive, they do overflow only, as far as acute care went.

I do believe they had some clinic work that was exclusively theirs now that I reflect back on it.

My only problem with them was the lack of work, which was chronic. At first, it was seasonal like all companies but the last year I was there I ran out of work every shift (evening shift).

What type of transcription platform do they use ... is it Word-based, user-friendly. Expansion program?

Can't believe you ran out of work in the evenings! That is when most companies are begging MTs to work. Unbelievable and not a good sign in my opinion.

They have their own proprietary platform that works in Word. As I recall, the platform wasn't too bad actually.

I did find the communication with the supervisors and higher-ups was really confrontational as well. Constant e-mails to everyone basically yelling at us. It was not a very respectful work environment. I can deal with that sort of stuff though. I left due to having no work. It was impossible to make line count and then of course we got yelled at for that as well.

I was assigned to 14 accounts by the way and maybe got 1-2 jobs and hour.

No IC status. They have many accounts, been on the same accounts for the 8 years I have been with them. I am very happy here.

I worked there for a year and it was the most horrible year of my life. I never had work and spent most of the day crying at my keyboard. I had to move to a cheaper apartment because of that job, then they were mad I couldn't do it on one of the weekdays when I was off. hated it.

I'm sorry, but this is real funny. You've only been there 6 months. Just wait a while. You will be singing a different tune. If you like to starve and get chewed out on a daily basis and run out of work constantly, then this company is for you!!

SS is like most other companies these days: Lots of ESL, inconsistent QA, less than adequate pay, etc. Here's what I've noticed about SS:
1. Support is not available on the weekends or after regular working hours during the week. If you have a problem, you are essentially done. Unable to work, unable to earn. Managers are sympathetic but acknowledge that they can't help you. A couple of times their server itself has been down so that NO ONE can work.
2. Constantly running out of work. They are primarily an overflow company, and one of the managers actually alluded to this fact--and I admire her for being truthful. I am making about a third what I used to make as I am always running out of work.
3. Managers are generally pleasant. I've never been treated rudely.
4. They pay on time.
5. There is no such thing as a raise at SS. They used to have yearly performance evaluations to determine who got a raise. Now they don't even bother since raises are nonexistent, which is actually okay by me. Why make us jump through pretend hoops for pretend raises?
6. Platform is horribly out of date. Also, they have their own proprietary sound file player which is beyond horrible. Also, there is no way to count lines with it so you have to cut and paste your jobs into a different program to make sure that you aren't being cheated.
Long story short: If the owner would invest some money in upgrading their system so that we can actually do what we've been trained for, they would be able to compete with other MTSOs instead of having to take the scraps.

I have noticed a significant decline in my line count with Softscript ever since their blooper that happened on MT week. I dont really understand how that has affected my line count so much but I used to type 23 jobs and get about 1000 lines. Now I type 23 jobs on the same accounts and get 700 lines. Something is wrong with this picture. I am looking for another job, I just feel like I'm wasting my time. ...

I tried applying for that job once, but they said that they wanted "recent" experience and the last time I did pathology was in 2001. And yet, they keep advertising for that position. I've not been working for SS very long and have been doing QA for them. I was wondering if anyone who reads this board is a QA, or has been a QA, for SS and, if so, do they audit you? How strict are the audits? What happens if you don't make the score? I have a friend who used to work for SS a couple years ago and she said that she quit because the audits were "nitpicky." Have over 10 years experience, have applied twice, have left my shift to work open. Have nothing against me, great references. Their email address they provide on their website when submitting emails to returns stating not a working email/no longer exists...Not one reply back. Do not answer their phones. No response to application. Yet, every week, they post begging for people. IMO, companies like this, aren't worth 2 cents. If the people they hire ...
