She's paying $8 per hour of audio. Her example is if she gives your 4 hours of audio work, you will get paid $32 for the work.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with the 1:3 ratio (3 hours of transcribing per 1 hour audio), that would only come to about $2.60 an hour. Right? Or am I grossly wrong in calculations here?

The "Rules for MTSOs" on the jobs board states that companies should not post jobs offering less than .05 per line. I would say this works out to MUCH less than that.

I figure a dictated minute at 12 lines, but let's give her the benefit and say 10.

So an hour of dictation is 600 lines.

Times 4 hours = 2400 lines.

$32 divided by 2400 = 1.3 cents per line.

Equals .06 rupees per line. I bet they make more than that in India!

I THOUGHT I MISREAD IT AND REREAD IT! Then the TAT is for you to work most of the evening to earn your huge bucks so doctor can have it back when his office opens. Give me a break. What a freakin' insult. If that is all they are paying her - she needs to go into another line of work - that isn't even minimum wage!

In case you have not figured this out already, you are probably not going to ever get out of MT into some other office position unless you become proficient in Microsoft Office. I just had an interview and was once again told that I was less likely to be hired without those skills (part of the job is MT; that part they liked).
