ProScript Documentation Services - Need current information

Posted: May 27, 2010

After reading archives on ProScript, it sounds like a company in transition.  Any more current information.  Pay rates for VR, platform (I believe ad said eScription/EditScript), happy, unhappy?  Anything that would help.  I really need a part-time job to pay the mortgage.  Thanks

They use multiple VR platforms (including M*Modal, which stinks), offer - - SM

- no benefits, recently cut the pay by about 40 percent, frequently run out of work, and when there is work constantly fire off e-mails telling people to "get those fingers moving," and they've had I don't know how many different trainers over the past 8-9 months, some lasting only days to a few weeks. That should tell you something. Badly managed, with no people skills. Used to be a great company, and may be again someday, but not now.

Listen up! What you see IS what you get...sm - NM

you might be able to buy a candy bar.

They only pay 3 cpl on VR, you'll go broke working for them - Ex PSer

I have no complaints about ProScript as a company per se, but I was hired to help train an account at 7.5 cpl for straight typing then 3 cpl for VR. WHOA...the first check was wonderful, but I (sucking at all things math) had no clue how low 3 cpl was for VR until I had my second check direct deposited. All that hard work for about $350, give or take. NEVER will I take anything for under 4.5 cpl again. The difference in net pay was astronomical.

I agree with the poster below, BTW, who points out that the emails are quite a nuisance. If there are more than 3-4 reports in the hopper, no kidding, they will email everyone to death telling them to get on and help out or risk losing the account. I'd drop everything (even take a break from my FT job to accommodate the request), only to get signed in and find at most a handful of reports. After awhile, you pretty much shrug off the emails but they cry wolf far too often and I have no doubt one day they're going to REALLY need help to avoid going out of TAT only to find their MTs have learned to ignore all of their unnecessary screams for help.

Anyway, that's MY experience with PS. That 3 cpl will be the hardest-earned money you'll ever earn.

Thank you all - 3 cents way too low

Thanks for the line rate on VR. You are right, that is way too low. I will keep looking.

Thank you all for replying.

I work there and I've never heard of them paying that low for VR lines, but-- - SM

--it may vary depending upon account and platform. However, even making more than that for VR I'm STILL going broke because the platform they have me on is sucky. I have to agree with everything else that's been said, though. Stay away.
Sadly my own fault because I agreed to it - Didnt realize just how LOW it was

I agreed to it, so no finger-pointing from me. It was a hem/onc account, I believe, which is a field I love. The initial "training" of the system with straight transcription at 7.5 a line (admittedly low but provided me with a good supplement income due to my expanders and knowledge of the field), and the dictators were mostly decent. No complaints for the first 2-3 weeks. However, when the transition happened to basically drafts for editing, that first paycheck showed me a VAST difference between 5 cpl for editing (which I get with my FT job) and 3 cpl. YOWZA!!! Talk about stinging when the direct deposit hit.

Also compounding this was the fact that getting my lines in was like trying to grab a brass ring on a daily basis. Between my FT job with another MTSO, I'd literally have to sit about 18-24/7 just to get my minimum lines. Once it went to VR, fewer MTs were obviously needed. I'd sit at my computer from about 6 a.m. until time to start my FT position MAYBE having half of my lines for the day, then have to babysit the system again after my shift with my FT employer, usually from 1 a.m. til 3 a.m., then I'd give up and take a nap and do it all again.

Never again will I take any editing position for less than 4.5-5 cpl. I learned the hard way through ProScript that 3 cpl doesn't even provide a decent supplemental wage.

Good luck to you!

Anybody Know Where Any Documentation Regarding Exactly How The QA
Mar 20, 2010

submission line count is calculated?  Number of characters in the words filled in by QA divided by total pay period line count?  Number of characters in the document submitted?  Knowing MQ, it's probably the latter.  So... if I submit 1 report with a 90 line count doc and 1 word, I'm dinged more than five 10 line count docs with 2 lines (i.e., 130 characters) of blanks in each?  There are doctors with such bad accents+mumbling in my group that they can end up w ...

Documentation Errors
Sep 15, 2010

I work in a surgery center/clinic in medical transcription. I have never worked in the medical field before, so I'm not sure what is acceptable. We get massive amounts of documentation errors from the nurses in the surgery center and in the clinic. Is this usually acceptable?! Is it normal for a transcriptionist to be required to scan over the chart and correct all of their errors or should this be the responsibility of the nursing staff? It's DRIVING me up a wall! I'd say 75 ...

Domestic Medical Documentation Act
Apr 23, 2014

I think any law that forbids offshoring of American medical documentation would have to be very thorough to address a number of potential problems. In keeping with this, I have a list below of some that I've thought might come up under such a law unless they are specifically addressed. These are possible loop holes that could really mess things up. 1.  It would create a sudden demand for many more MTs in this country. That's awesome, obviously, but I fear this may cause medical pr ...

Is It Just Me, Or Do The Words Clinical Documentation Specialist Mean
Jun 05, 2015

Ahima certainly gives it a different spin than MT, and an article at Study.com lists desired or common requirements as associate's or bachelor's degree, with nursing, HIM, or health information technology, and medical coding expertise.  So where does Nuance get off expecting "lowly" MTs to do this stuff, with 100% flawless accuracy, on lowly MT pay having to Google everything? I mean, they do not even pay us enough to be "lowly" MTs, and yet expect us to Google and verify that do ...
