MQ buy-out of AllType - GAMT

Posted: Aug 25, 2011

Well after finding out that ALLtype was bought out by MedQ I had to make a choice - I resigned.  I just cannot bring myself to work for an Indian owned company, nor do I want to fight for work with an underpaid and less qualified Indian MT.  I hope more MTs will take this same option - the sooner we start refusing to work for overseas companies and taking lower pay - the sooner the job climate will change.  For me - I cannot complain about something I am not willing sacrifice to change.

Just my 0.35 cents!!!

Alltype also sent work to India, I know for a fact - although, not owned by indians nm

did not know that - GAMT

I wish I had known that before starting. I did ask them.

I did the same thing when MDI-MD merged with Transcend. Not only did I do it, I wrote the head of MDI-MD a letter telling her why I would not "come aboard" on the merger. I am a proud American and I will NOT participate in the selling out of our livelihoods. God bless you for your courage and integrity in quitting. AMERICAN JOBS FOR AMERICAN WORKERS!

All Type was not owned by an Indian Company - They did offshore

[ In Reply To ..]
but they were not indian owned. They also employed US people and only offshored what they could not get covered here in the States.

AllType offshoring - 1mt

I wonder why they had to offshore for work they could not get covered here in the US when there are so, so many MT's looking for work. Doesn't make sense that they "had" to offshore for that reason. Anybody know why they had to do that??

I have to take exception - BeeBop

to your comment that they "only offshored what they could not get covered here in the States." They sent a LOT of work overseas and left us with nothing for months when they thought that the offshore vendors could handle their own QA and send straight reports to the clients. QA editors here were asking for work and were being told last winter that the work flow had dwindled because of all the snow storms in the Northeast. Months later when the AllType clients complained so much about quality that the QA work had to be brought back and done by UNITED STATES workers in QA, we found out what had really happened. I personally lost enough money during that period to get behind on my bills. So, in short, from one person (me) who was hit by their cavalier attitude about taking work AWAY from U.S. workers to send it offshore, AllType showed that they have very little care about getting work "covered here in the States" and their sending it overseas has nothing at all to do with not being able to find United States workers to do it. We WANTED that work, and it was taken from us with no advance warning. They had told us that AllType would never offshore QA work and have reports go straight to the facility without a United States QA editor's eyes on it first, but then they turned around three weeks later and did just that. AllType made the decision to offshore their QA because they thought it would save them money, and they lied to us in the process.

I was talking about Transcription/VR - Not QA work

The way they handled the QA issue was disgusting and dishonest, and they definitely paid the price for it in the long run. Worse, they flat-out lied not only while it was ongoing, but when confrtonted the account manager said she herself did know about it, and that was a bold-face lie. Im not sure how she got the words out of her mouth that day.

Interesting that this was discussed months ago and denied - and as recently as 3-4 weeks ago the QA team was assured it was confirmed as a rumor! I dont know if they lied to her too.. I cant imagine in that case that she would have perpetuated it, but im not swearing for anyone there!

However, I was under the impression (and I could be wrong) that the Transcription teams were covered and had more than enough work and whatever they could not do was offshored. Maybe Im mistaken though. Thats how it used to be - when they werent one of the pond scum companies.
A lot of MT work was also sent out both VR and straight typing. nm - former ATer

All Type - AT not for me

worked for AllType for 3 years, because i am NOT a quitter. Fought with AllType for 3 years, becaues i'm not a quitter. QA is a joke, one came back as error on me...they corrected it to be "placenta was handed off to the waiting pediatrician", to which i replied they usually hand them the BABY. Their response, "oh, i guess you were right"...YA THINK. It's a bowl of liars from the get-go in that company!! Off-shore my ASS!! Their way to try and make fast money....

Here is a blog article written by the Director of Professional Services for M-Modal about how unfair the "one size fits all" line rate is that so many companies consider "industry standard."  It shows how it ends up costing the company more money in the long run and devalues the higher producing MTs. http://mmodal2.wordpress.com/2010/07/23/mt-compensation/ ...
