Just started with Futurenet and ready to quit already! - Does it get any better?

I'm just really frustrated trying to learn this MModal crapola...Does it get any better? I've never been tortured like this before! I think I'm averaging about $2.50 an hour right now...OMG! Is this platform working for anyone else? I'm too frustrated, I may just give up and go elsewhere if it doesn't get better really quickly here!

the short answer is no...it does not...it will get worse. Every software "upgrade" and your line count goes down further. And they talk to you like you are an indentured servant instead of the person who makes the money for the company.

Everything at FutureNet spirals downward every day, including the amount of money to be made. Don't even waste your time, because when you are at your best with M-Modal, you will be making about $5 an hour. FutureNet does not care if you make a living. They only care about saving a dollar. Just being honest.

Sorry about your frustration, but there have been a lot of posts about FN and this terrible M-Modal platform recently. People have left the company who have been with FN for a long time. The truth is that FN's version of M-Modal speech is just awful to work on and all of their accounts appear to be moving over to it.

I wish you well and that you find someplace better to work.

Personally, I'm just hanging on part-time because I just do not want to look for another MTSO again. I have found work outside of transcription. FN has finally made me hate this business.

I should have read the posts, although I see that most of the recent posts have been after I started on with them. I guess I am still just gullible and believe that in general most people strive to be fair to hard working, honest people. I really don't understand how they can justify such low pay (which equals higher profits for them, no doubt). I mean, aren't they already saving a bundle of money by making us IC status, thus not paying any benefits whatsoever? How can they pay 8 cents a line as an IC, but other companies can pay 8 cents a line as an employee with benefits and paid time off? Hmm, either way even with my little bit of experience here, I can tell this software is not beneficial to anyone...not the patient, not the MT/ME, and not even the doctor.

Reminder - FutureNet is paying half of transcription rates for speech rates. The work on M-Modal will eventually be all editing of speech reports, not blank reports that need to be typed.

You are correct, there are no benefits whatsoever as an IC. There is no paid time off.

This software is only beneficial to FN. They are using it for technical reasons, absolutely no reasons that benefit the people who use it.

The dictators have no clue whatsoever what platform is being used. The reports all are supposed to look the same as the previous platform we used. The dictators may even assume that all reports are actually being transcribed. They have not necessarily been told that the reports are being run through a speech engine.

See how easy it is for the MTSO to win at the money game?

Based on your post, FutureNet has also dropped the pay rate per line. It's bad enough that they keep changing platforms which get worse and worse over time, but they have also decreased what they are now paying new hires. Shame.

You are correct, this M-Modal platform is definitely not beneficial to the people who perform the work. Certainly that is not a consideration for this company.

and now...the numbers are SO high and the TAT is way way way out of control...they are saying they have to assign work. meaning out of TAT work and M-modal work. They will be shocked when no one works at all. They don't have to assign anything...first in first out and the oldest will get done. It is simply a control issue to make sure that everyone HAS to work on M-modal. They are delusional...no one will work on M-modal...and they can either stop putting work on that platform or type it themselves. One MT said she was making $2.50 an hour on M-modal...I think she was doing great compared to what other MTs have said. Keep it up ....they will start losing more accounts....and more MTs. Could be the end of Futurenet. I don't know anyone who would be sorry to see them go except the supervisor who wants to control everything everywhere for everyone. She would be distressed for sure. No one else.

Regarding said supervisor: She has always eluded to having done every job there is in this industry. Not so. She has never been an MT, editor, QA person, nor does she have any form of degree in management. Yes, she has an over inflated opinion of herself. Too bad she didn't try to control the work situation for her workers. Too bad she didn't try to be a civil person before the situation got way out of hand. I am going to assume that a ton of workers have left the company and hence the work is now at high levels. The company can put it back into transcription and not on M-Modal and perhaps (big if) they will get takers to do the work. It's probably too late. The company should have thought ahead to the consequences of their actions.

Have things improved at all working for FutureNet using M-Modal?

I am trying to hang on with this company, but it's not looking hopeful. Just wanted a new hire's opinion after getting past the account specs and just working.

No, it is not getting better. Yes, I've learned the crappy software, been let off of QA for 1 account, but it is just so unbelievably slow. I actually tracked what I am getting paid per hour and it is pitiful. And no I am not a newbie to MT, just to this company, so I do not attribute the low wage to a lot of researching words or phrases...I attribute it solely to mmodal. Ugh! I could go on, but I think you get the idea!

I'm not new to their accounts and certainly not medical transcription or editing, but this M-Modal platform is just killing my bank book.

I'm about to take a hike. I just cannot justify making terrible money any longer.

I'm seriously ready to quit and get out of the MT business altogether and about 95% sure I have a new job lined up, but will not give notice until I'm 100% sure, BUT....as you all know, our cpl have gone down drastically since VR and most of us have had less and less work coming to us lately, so my question is would you still give a full 2 weeks notice? I have been dealing with a payment problem for over 2 weeks. I had 2 phone #s with them, one personal and 1 for my dictation machine. Went with Comcast for the personal # and canceled that account with Verizon. Sent me a bill. I paid 2/3/11. On 3/10, they sent me a refund check for $34 stating I did not owe it. Cashed check.
