Inscribe in Kentucky - suzy

Posted: Aug 15, 2011

I still am there but very disappointed in everything.  They are terribly disorganized, and the owner sends out emails stating she is going to fire everyone if you don't do what I say, either drunk or not taking her medications some say.  You are forced to work as an employee in an IC status.  I only work 2 hours a day, but I find myself having to do 1-2 hours of other crap, including instant messaging, bookkeeping, and helping other employees to fill in blanks, we are required to help each other and not leave blanks.  QA doesn't do it, we are responsible for ourselves and if we don't do it, we are terminated.  HOW IS THAT FOR A JOB?  The top people are leaving, now 3 months in a row, from top transcriptionists, to technical people, to administrative people.  It is not fun running around with a pit in your stomach wondering if you are going to get terminated for something somebody else did.  That happened to a team member of mine, and it just didn't sit right with any of us what happened to her.  They also lowered to 7 cents a line (from 9 cents a line) all across the board.  People who have been with them for years as well got a decrease.  Don't try this place out at all.  They once had an Inscribe University and medical transcription course for $1800, and would hire after you went through it.  That closed down.  The coding and billing closed down.  The medical transcription portion is next, because they just can't get their act together and all the good people are leaving, and that with lowering the line rate.  THEY CATER TO NEWBIES, including hiring from one of the colleges before they hire experienced transcriptionists.  So if you want experience as a newbie and want to be treated like you don't matter to anyone, this is your place!

I just got an email from them, they saw my resume on-line and invited me to fill out an application. I was going to do it today but, after reading your experience, think I'll just stay at MQ for awhile. Since I'm just part-time, MQ seems better right now. Thanks for sharing.

They're a bunch of nuts - IMO

The owner expects something for nothing and changes policies sometimes daily. If you want to do their work for free and only get paid for what little you can type in between all the e-mails, IMs, phone calls, online meetings, and down servers, then go ahead and apply. They tell you what lines to bill and the rate. You cannot bill for time spent answering company e-mails, IMs, or reviewing and updating the ever changing company standards and policies and the new company calendars. No paid training either. The only plus side to their rate is SR is the same as straight transcription. That's because they can't figure out how to separate the two from each other to tell you to bill a lower rate.

My advice is if you're a newbie and need the EXPERIENCE like me, try to tough out the red e-mails and negative because that's all the InScribe will GIVE you. One other thing. Watch your back. Security is terrible. Everyone knows everyone else's IDs and passwords.

Stay far away - Disappointed

Did you see today's e-mail about the status change? Does that mean if we type we don't have to do all this mumbo jumbo free work any longer and that's only for employees. I don't want to work for free filling in other MT blanks.
Fired! - Anonymous

I just got fired yesterday from this company for twice entering the wrong service date. WOW!!! I have never been fired before in my life, let alone for a silly mistake such as this. DON'T WORK FOR THEM!!! They are constantly threatening!!!

Sorry you got fired but not for nothing, putting in the wrong service date is a significant error, not at all a SILLY error.

They may be constantly threatening but I'm beginning to wonder if that's because MTs think mistakes are "silly" rather than actually following instructions and not putting the record at risk of legal action.

This person just got fired. Why would you rub salt in his or her wounds?

Some day you just might make a mistake or two, and it might get you fired. I hope people are nicer to you.

I really think InScribe is in jeopardy of losing their big contract due to all their noncompliance. Unfortunately, they're pushing and pushing their workforce beyond what they are physically able to do, which makes for mistakes from overworked MTs. Working 14+ hour days sitting at a computer with little to no breaks is going to produce an error or two. I'm sure you'll find something else.

Not only that, but they're recruiting new grad with the promise that they will be given two weeks of mentoring and QA guidance...which is a lie. So brand new grads are being asked to produce 100% quality work on a system that takes an average of 5 minutes for every search, every report filing, every previous report, every missing patient name. They deserve what they get.
who is their "big" contract? - curious
[ In Reply To ..]
based on all the responses about this company how can they keep a "big" contract. Everyone on here keeps saying they are brutal to work for. Take a little time to think about the type of MTs they may be hiring, if they are new or some that just "don't get it" (sorry they are out there), and then you have the contract they are supposed to keep up with...if they are hounded by the supervisor of that big contract, that's enough to stress them out enough to bring it down to the MT level (in a much nicer way though I would hope). Sorry, just my 2 cents worth. I currently work for a company whose contract I work for has such wierd site specs it's hard to undo years of typing a certain way to do it the "new" way. It's hard on us all, but the company is being very patient with us all and trying to help us out as much as possible, we are not brow beaten or fired because of it. I hope for the best for you all who work for Inscribe and maybe there are Inscribe ICs that actually LIKE their job and are good at it, that's why they aren't bothered???? Like I said, probably not worth much, but my 2 cents.

I'm with you. None of us is perfect, and while most of try our best, sometimes an error is made. I join your question in why would anyone rub salt into the wounds of anyone else? The thing I find most disheartening about our industry is the amount of unkindness and lack of caring we have for each other. Like you, I hope if MT3 ever gets fired, people treat him/her with a little more kindness than s/he was willing to give the other person. Nuff said.

I never worked for this MTSO, but I applied and "quit" before I was hired. The recruiter was more disorganized than any recruiter I have ever encountered. She continuously had me mixed up with someone else. I even received a threatening email from her because I had, according to her, failed to attend a training session. This was before I was officially hired. Later, she recanted and apologized, as she had me mixed up with that other applicant. I stopped the application process at that point.

I would like to add some positives to the previous posts on Inscribe. I currently work there and am very happy with my job. The reason for lowering the line rate was that Dragon was recommended for all MTs to use and Inscribe has done what it can to provide this program to the MTs. The organization of the company has been going through some changes (as all growing companies need to do) and everything appears to be working out. This company expects excellence and in turn provides the opportunity for as many lines as you can handle and job stability if you're willing to put forth the effort to maintain that excellence. I would highly recommend this company to work for!

Let me say that in all of the 20+ years I have been in this business, I have never encountered more rude, more criticizing, unprofessional people (particularly one manager ****) in my life. These people have you test initially, send you new hire paperwork to fill out, (which is so backward), then schedule you for a brief training on their software, then have you transcribe 5 reports.  That is really not a problem, it is the way you are talked to in emails.  I will copy and paste VERBA ...

May 11, 2011

Okay, I know InScribe LLC (Kentucky) has been on the Boards multiple times (at least monthly, if not weekly, it seems), but I just noticed they have a “Premium” ad at the top of the Job Seeker’s Board.  I guess these “Featured Listings” are not free, as the other listings are.  If I remember correctly, most of the posts on the Boards have been by Newbies, because InScribe evidently is one of the few MTSOs that hire new graduates.  However, it appear ...

InScribe US
Feb 27, 2011

Hello MTs! I recently submitted application and tests document to InScribe US and was informed that although I did "well" on the test, I was slightly below their standards. They have invited me to participate in their internship program, take 4 of their learning modules, and work with someone one-on-one to bring me up to their standards. This is to cost $400. Has anyone gone through this process? Is it a scam? I definitely know that more education will benefit me, but I am just looking for some ...

About InScribe... (sm)
Jan 31, 2014

I reviewed comments on InScribe going back to 2005 and the only positive comment I could find is that they pay on time.  A red flag was that they hire newbies and require that you go to an MT chat room and send the audio to another MT to listen to when you have to leave a blank before sending it to QA.  There was also a comment that you are required to read all the comments in the chat room.  Can anyone confirm this is the case?  If so, it sounds like they use the seasoned MT ...
