Community Health Systems - MT

Posted: Jan 14, 2014

Does anyone currently work for Community Health Systems (CHS)? I have been offered an MT position and would like to get some feedback from anyone who works for them!

Did you also interview on Yahoo IM? - anon

I've always been interviewed via phone with other companies. I also noticed that the emails of both people I've dealt with are yahoo.com, not professional business addresses. Did you find this too?

that's because - their internal mail

is constantly crashing!

One of the things to like about them is that they AREN'T 100% corporatized (I just made up that word I think.)

Sounds fishy to me.......sm - smeeps

As I had worked for a CHS hospital locally and they have outsourced every hospital transcription department so far.

Yes

Likely A Scam - MT2

I also applied via Yahoo messenger, though I was suspicious of the poor English. Also got offered a job where the recruiter then said they would be sending me a payment to purchase software and equipment plus shipping logistics. That's where I definitely got suspicious and asked them why they don't just send equipment. The recruiter then asked if I had a problem with that. I said I thought it was odd, that usually companies would supply equipment rather than send us money to buy equipment. The recruiter then replied he would check with the accounting apartment, and that was it. They immediately got off Yahoo Messenger. Sounds like typical Nigerian scam to me.

Definitely a scam - MT

I just called CHS and spoke to someone who confirms this is a scam. They are not hiring for MT and someone is using yahoo accounts trying to scam people. Do not give them any information!

I'm the anon who posted above... - anon

and somehow when this post was moved from the Main Board to the Company Board, the moderator deleted an additional response: I said I did some research and found that same ad on a help wanted section for an on-site position in Needham, MA, and also CHS had outsourced their transription years ago to Spheris (now M*Modal).

No typos or bad English until the job 'offer'. What first made me suspicious was everything (even interview) being done on Yahoo IM and then being told to "stay online" while the info was forwarded to the dept head. After half an hour, I signed off (can you get hacked through Yahoo?) and found out the above information. I signed back on the next day and was immediately offered the job, with no opportunity to ask questions. Curious to see what they would say, I asked some questions regarding the position. I was told the information wasn't available because I hadn't "started yet". I declined and 'they' promptly signed off without a word.

DEFINITELY A SCAM - noscamforme

YEP Got fleeced, i mean "interviewed" yesterday. I told him 2 minutes into it it was a scam. The reply? Please don't use that word. Don't bother with this and erase this nut from your IM message contacts ASAP.

continued scam - anne31962

... they are back at it again with ads circulating, but already pulled down, still saying CHS but this time they wanted Arizona area transcriptionists, the ad once again mirror-copied a legit ad, offered the 25-30 dollars an hour but this time used AOL contact addresses. losers!

If any of you knew me in person you would know it is not in my nature to whine. But I am going to DO SO HERE... My wife is the MT in our family not me. Last Thursday the laptop she uses for work died. It was an old AcerVista laptop. So what is a person who makes a living on a computer do when the one he or she uses dies?? Common sense is you go get a new one right??  These companys you folks work for could not be more firmly entrenched in the tech world. Do these people realize just how d ...

Could Anyone Who Has An HRA (health Reimbursement Arrangement) Type Of Health Care
May 04, 2010

tell me how that works?  I know the insurance premiums are less than a regular health plan.  If your  company puts 500 in your account, does that mean the first few times, for example, until you use up the 500, you don't pay ANYTHING or is it the opposite...you pay the entire office visit cost until you reach that 500?  I would be so grateful for any information about this type of plan.  TIA ...

Community College Vs. M-Tec/Andrews
Feb 11, 2011

Is it better to go with the tried-and-true Andrews or M-tec as opposed to a local community college that offers MT courses? I was thinking it would be better to stick with the former, but was intrigued by the fact that the local junior college seems to be promising "internships". I'm not 100 percent sure yet, as the informational meeting isn't until the beginning of March, but wondered what the prevailing wisdom might be on the subject. Thanks in advance for any info. ...

Pitiful Webmedx Community Page Announcement
Sep 01, 2010

What a bunch of nonsense.  They wait until well into their smoke and mirrors BS to say that they lost two accounts and had to let people go. Guaranteed they knew the accounts were gone a while ago--seen this with them before, and the decent thing would have been to warn people--but there seems to be no decency here any longer in how management conducts itself.  Question:   What is with all the new hires this summer who have been scrolling on the community page? ...

Apply At Local Universities And Community Colleges
Aug 01, 2012

Me again.  If you live anywhere near a university or community college, consider applying there for a job.  It will most likely be civil service, which means you will need to take a test to measure your skills, and then you will be ranked on the interview totem pole according to your test score and level of skills.  It's a fair process.  It doesn't matter who you know.  It only matters HOW MUCH you know.  At our local university, there are 2 clerical categ ...

I'm taking my first steps to get out of this field - I'm 48 years old, I've dedicated myself to Medquist/MModal for 16 years of my life and I am making less today than my 15-year-old son who just got his very first job.  In my lifetime, I never thought I would be 48 years old, on Food Stamps and barely making minimum wage in a field I gave nearly half my life to.  It is a complete insult. I've been going around and around in my head how to get out of this fiel ...

MTStars A Community Of US Medical Transcriptionists And Their Companies Who Worry About What Is Bein
May 21, 2013

My point having been made in 2 short weeks, I will no longer be hanging out on this board.  Nuance, in its attempts to hide its egregious activities with certain employees, has infiltrated this board and it is no longer truly a community of US medical transcriptionists, but has become what could more aptly be called, "A company opportunity to do damage control for all POTENTIAL new employees about what the former employees said when they quit."  The board can, however, still ser ...
