Hospital changes with the economy....sm - In the know

Over the past few years they have been hiring more PCTs, CNAs and LPNs and increasing the # of patients each RN has to take care of. ICU nurses use to have a ratio of 2-3 patients per nurse and now it's 4-5 as an example. Pharmacies are using more pharmacy techs than in the past so they can get by with hiring less pharmacists. Remember when going to a doctor's office meant a RN was there to get your history, vitals, etc? Now it's a tech.
