I do transcription for radiologists, and this comes up quite often. Is it osteomeatal complexes with an "e" or ostiomeatal complexes with an "i"? Sometimes they say ostiomeatal "units" instead of complexes. These rads use Dragon, so I'm only proofreading and editing their reports, and it comes to me spelled in both ways, even from the same rad. Any help here fellow MTs? ...
PROCEDURE PERFORMED: Brachytherapy implant.
Now, where does "PROCEDURE ABORTED" go, so patient isnt charged for it, etc, and no errors are made? And, should it be all caps? In name of procedure or as a separate "Please Note:" Its dictated as name of procedure but Dr. is indecisive and stutters dictation ambiguously. ...
I have a patient who had a px of her ankle. The doctor did not give any hx of injury or any symptoms, just stated that she had a left ankle arthroscopy and what sounds like a Brostin procedure of her ankle? Anyone ever hear of this?
Thank you so much in advance!
Forgive my giddiness today but I havent' had a lot of sleep in the past several days and I do get giddy with little sleep. For some reason, one of my mom's most famous sayings just came to mind: "From the day of your ...
The sentance reads - __________ views shows occipital cervical complex with no obvious evidence of arthritic change.
The blank sounds like "L spine", but since this is of the occipital region I don't think it would be that.
...
The sentece reads:
A 6-French x 24 cm double-J stent ws then placed. One curl noted in the upper pole under fluoroscopy, another curl noted in the bladder under cystoscopy, a s/l "dang-litter" was left in place.

I have tried google, etc, but I am still not positive. For prophylaxis for a cystoscopy, is it usually 5 mg or 500 mg. Dr. is really speeding through and I think I hear 5 mg, but always thought it was 500 mg. Now I am totally unsure.
On top of it all, by internet went down all night, so now I am really under pressure to get this out. Appreciate your help.
Thanks, ...
Cystourethroscopy was performed, and the patient was noted to have a normal (___) urethra. However, at the junction of the pendulous and bulbous urethra there were several wide aperture strictures. The bulbous urethra and the membranous urethra were completely free of stricture.
I can't figure out what type of urethra he is saying. It seems slurred to me, and I can't make out what it starts with or ends with. Maybe ending in a- u sound. It has an s in it ...
Does anyone know what this word is? It s/l cath-i-nod
This resulted in a very dry prostatic urethra, and then I placed a Foley catheter to cathenod this area.
Thank you very much. ...
On cystoscopy, it sounds clearly like:
...rigid cystoscope was advanced per urethra into the bladder, and the bladder was investigated in the usual *s/l meridian* fashion.
I don't remember having this before. Have I just lost my mind? I've done thousands of cystoscopy notes. ...
Thank you in advance for any help. :)
I have an Indian urologist who is describing the bladder examination on cystoscopy and says,
"Occasional petechia are present. No hornicles are seen." Sounds like hornusuls, etc. Uuuugh. I've been transcribing for this doctor for a year and have never heard this although it sounds familiar from my medical background. I know I'm going to slap my forehead when I get this. :/

I interviewed this morning for a transcription position that I will need to be flexible for front and back office backup. This interests me and I am very interested in it as I think MTs need to be more flexible in this day and age. This is a sole FP physician and she does do EMR but also keeps her own chart record by using the sticky back paper. So she does double duty. I believe this is a wonderful idea and will keep some of us MTs working into the future. She always has the record there w ...
Can anyone shed light on how flexible optiscript in State College is? I read on here how the unit manager will work with you if you need to change a schedule or need time off, but if you give an 8 hour schedule do they mind if you do not always adhere to it minute by minute or do they give you a little room to breathe. I heard they have split shifts but just wondering how strict they are with the schedules you give. TIA. ...
If you are considered an independent contracter, can these companies require you to do the work on set hours? It seems to me they could be a little more flexible with the hours. I realize there is a turn around time, but a block of time would be nice. Where are all the companies like this?? ...
I read a post on one of the boards yesterday by someone who was asking what companies are more flexible with their hours/schedules, etc. Wanted to read responses and cannot find the original post to save my soul!! Anybody know what board it is on? Thanks ...
Just wondering if there are any companies out there that offer flexible schedules. I am currently a substitute teacher, so I don't have a set schedule for work. I have about 5 years of transcriptions experience and would like to pick up about 15-25 hours of transcribing per week, but I don't want a set schedule. Any ideas? Thanks! ...
I have looked back through the patient's files from previous visits that I have on my flash drive (keep these for a year) and it just mentions his right wrist. Any ideas what "left AC" could have to do the the right wrist or is my PA just getting his tongue tied again? Thanks for any help. ...
I am thinking about pursuing a job as an independent contractor as I am retired and want something to do more than the money (retired hospital transcriptionist). It is my understanding that an IC must have flexible schedule to qualify for IC status, yet the job ads specify second and third shift as well as weekend days. Can they do this? I know the government is cracking down on ICs to make sure they are truly ICs (we all know the transcription companies will do everything to preserve their bo ...
