A fornix-based conjunctival flap was formed with Westcott s cissors and hemostasis was achieved with electrocautery. Clear-cornea paracentesis wound was made with a Supersharp blade. A #7 blade was used to make a superior scleral incision 2 mm posterior to the surgical limbus. From this point, the crescent blade was used to fashion a scleral tunnel through which the anterior chamber was entered with a 3.2-mm keratome. Viscoelastic was injected into the anterior chamber to deepen it, and an anterior capsulotomy performed with a capsulorrhexis technique. The nucleus was hydrodissected with balanced salt solution and emulsified with the phacoemulsification device. The remaining cortex was removed using irrigation and aspiration. Additional viscoelastic was reintroduced into the anterior chamber to deepen it
then you're sharp enough to do a million other things. It's hard to get used to the idea of doing a traditional job, but I've found it refreshing to be out in the public again. I landed a good-paying job with paid vacation and other bennies, banker's hours and a great boss, all in the field I was working in 15 years ago before becoming an MT. Why be held hostage to this no-win situation? ...
So, in text should it be #-blade or # blade (i.e., 11-blade or 11 blade)? It would make sense to be that it should be 11 blade, but there are many MTs who type 11-blade (or 15-blade or whatever). When editing for my hospital, I change it to 11 blade, but I'm starting to doubt myself.
Thanks for the help! ...

Typing a PT report and came across this: "NEUROLOGICAL SCREEN: Sharp purser test is negative."
I can't find definitively whether this is named for 2 people, or one with a hyphenated name... so, "Sharp-Purser test" or if it's referring to sharp as in, a needle is sharp, and then Purser as a last name, or finally, if it's "sharp purser" as in, sharp movements, and somehow purser referring to something I'm not aware of.
Thanks! ...
Does anyone know whether "phaco" as in "phaco blade" is capitalized or not? Is there a chance it would be one word: phacoblade? Thank you so much for your response in advance!!! ...

I find medical terminology quite fascinating and enjoy learning about the body and such. I found a t.v. series where they do autopsies on real humans while discussing the functions of the body, various ailments, numerous terms, revelations of their findings, and a whole lot more. They were very respectful and adult about all of it, and I learned a lot. Even if I did know about something, they helped explain it in a way that helped me understand it better.

It seems lately I have had a lot of corrections where they are removing what I have typed and marking as [UNCLEAR]. I am not getting dinged, but the reason this is bothering me so much is because they are doctors I am familiar with and know what they say. It's not like a skip is happening and I'm adding in something. There are dictating, not always the best dictations, but because I'm familiar with them I know what it is.
Makes me feel like I don't know what I ...

Is anyone else even just a little angered with the email from the CCM about the weekly statistics?
The part that really steams my broccoli is "This is no different than if you were to get a quarterly review or yearly review with your pros and cons listed and where improvements need to be made."
Well.... when the CCM and QA lead get quarterly reviews, dont they get RAISES? That is how the rest of the world works! RAISES. My teen son works at Taco Bell and he just got his 6 month review on hi ...
