Fuchs dystrophy surgery...having some problems with names of instruments used in the surgery. Sounds like "Presson" blade? and sounds like "Gussey"forceps?
forceps/blade sm - lyn

DSAEK Goosey-type grasping forceps, 4 5/8", angled shafts, 12mm tip to bend length, round handle with guide pin
used in opthalmic surgery
as for the blade, is it possible he could be saying "Bausch & Lomb"? They do have ophthalmic blades/scalpels
So, in text should it be #-blade or # blade (i.e., 11-blade or 11 blade)? It would make sense to be that it should be 11 blade, but there are many MTs who type 11-blade (or 15-blade or whatever). When editing for my hospital, I change it to 11 blade, but I'm starting to doubt myself.
Thanks for the help! ...
Does anyone know whether "phaco" as in "phaco blade" is capitalized or not? Is there a chance it would be one word: phacoblade? Thank you so much for your response in advance!!! ...
This person has a foreign body in the foot. Does this sentence make sense?
There appeared to be a foreign body distally that was visible and could hear audibly with the forceps.
Can it be heard audibly as the forceps hits the foreign body? Thanks for any help.

I think I posted this in the wrong place the first time...
need to know if anyone has heard the term hot shoe forceps. Not sure if it is Hatshu, or hot shoe... just can't find anything remotely like it anywhere. A polyp in the colon was biopsied and ablated with hot shoe forceps. Any ideas? ...
This doctor is dictating that he performed an "internal discectomy with a micropituitary forceps." This is another term I've never heard nor can I find it online. ...
Dictated: there was a small polyp in the cecum which was removed using large s/l bodding biopsy forceps.
bodding, body-and, biting, bodine... I hear the 'b' at the start, the 't' or 'd' in the middle, and 'ing' or 'ine' on the end.
Any suggestions? Thanks! ...
Stumped here. :(
Surgeon says:
Two screws fractured at the level of the bone. They were ____________ and removed in the usual fashion.
The blank sounds like "truffened", "troughened", "truffined"? Some sort of removal. I have absolutely no idea.
Thanks in advance. :) ...
Procedure = tonsillectomy + UPPP + base-of-tongue Coblation
"A #3 mac anesthesia blade was then used to expose the tongue base."
Probably a dumb question but is that "mac" as in "MacIntosh" or MAC as in "monitored anesthesia care"?
Thanks:) ...
The doctor dictates: *to surgery after appropriate preparation and today* prosthetic arthroplasty, Austin Moore-type left hip. What I flagged, I know cannot be completely right because it doesn't make sense. Any clues as what he may be saying?? Thanks!
