Which of the following is acceptable when transcribing drug doses?

30 mcg o.d.

10 mg q.d.

1.0 mg

10 mL

I think it is 10 mg q.d., but with everything changing I am unsure. Please help and thank  you!

Go to the JCAHO website and check out their Do Not Use list of abbreviations. Also check your acct specifics. I have an account that you cannot use p.o., but have to put orally. Generally, the JCAHO list works well, but sometimes the particular account may have additional rules.

Actually, maybe not the account you are on, but "q.d." is on the "Official Do Not Use List" so it is now expected to be written out as "daily" or "every other day" but either q.d. or qd can otherwise be used.

I don't know about others, but for me, it's different on each account. It depends how the client wants the report. If you don't have the info from the client, you should probably ask your supervisor for the info - just to be on the safe side.
