Yes I know I shouted. I meant to. VR is ridiculous. I don't believe that ANYBODY can edit twice as many lines as they can doing straight transcription. That is a crock of hooey!!!!!!

I just started VR and I hate it. Takes just as long if not longer to finish a report. Delete this, add that. OMG. I've been a MT for 30 years and I've about had it. I'm moving soon and once settled, I'm looking for something as far away as I can get from this crap even if it's Welcome to WalMart !!!!

I'm a medical transcriptionist, not a fricken editor. I used to make a good living. I used to enjoy my job. These companies need to come off their high horse and pay us what we deserve.

Now that my company switched to a good VR program - I edit more than twice my transcription rate. SM

It is not VR, per se, it's how good the VR program is and what the percentage of errors allowed is. Garbage in, garbage out, and when a lot of the product is garbage, guess who gets it shoved at them to "edit" at half pay?

My LPH just leapt because we moved from a mediocre program to a good one. Now I'm waiting to see how much they drop our line rate, and how soon, but that's my employer, not VR.

In the meantime, I'm all of a sudden enjoying my work again. My worst dictators (as bad as anyone you guys can match against them) are not so bad any more (SR mostly GETS them, removing the time- and morale-consuming struggle) and the very best dictators are creampuffs. I cruise on the same accounts that last week felt like slogging through knee-high mud.

I've said before--you need to understand who/what your problem is before you can deal with it. Until then you're just screaming into the dark.

I type a lot of crap, but just had the worst doc I think I ever had. Had 11 QA markers so I sent it to QA thinking they might actually LIKE getting some work since they are about to be history. Anyways, this bi*ch marked 2 CRITICAL ERRORS and did an audit on it (which was still 96.5% in spite of everything I am glad to say). QA you wonder why we have such a bad attitude? I spend a lot of time typing for a huge university hospital clinic with no ADT. Have to type in all patient information. Almost every report is a LETTER. Referring physician has to be typed into the ADT. Then the letter recipient information has to be typed in and lo and behold have to re-type it into the cc list for the doc to get a copy of the letter. I wonder why I can't run a decent line count? Don't you just hate it when you've got a dictation that is so fraught with static, and it sounds like the dictator is 100 miles away from the phone, but you actually can make out the words, just barely, and you'd love to leave all blanks because it's such a chore to hear any of it, but you can't, of course, because you can make it out? I have been at Nuance 4 months and don't know how I am going to go through another week there.
