GearPlayer/Start-Stop/ExpressScribe - Looking for recommendations

Does anyone who is using Emdat/Inscribe use this foot pedal? If so, does it work well for you? I am currently using an Infinity USB-1 foot pedal and even though I have configured it on the Emdat/Inscribe platform, it just doesn't work like it should. I checked the price of the Universal Start/Stop Foot Pedal and found that it costs around $100. I am reluctant to pay that much before finding out if it actually works well with this platform. Anyone care to share ...

I can load it into the dock, but it says there are 0 minutes of dictation. If I play it on Windows Media, it says I need a codec. I don't know what that is. Was given some sample dictation to listen to and could play it on Google Chrome and it sounded very clear, but when I played it with Express Scribe (even using the special audio processes) it sounded a lot worse - more like in a tin can and a bit scratchy.
