Does anyone use Start-Stop? If so, do you like it?

I had start-stop for many years and was satisfied with it. I came to a point in a different job position where I needed to use the ftp part of it to gain work. after using the ftp part of it for about 6 months, it suddenly stopped working and I could not retrieve jobs through it any longer. I called support. it took them almost a week to respond and because I had to work, I found alternatives. when tech support called me, he remoted into my computer. he tried everything he could think of to get the ftp part to work and after an hour or so of being as frustrated as I had become, he stated, "it's broke," well duh! that's why I called you, dipwad! he tried a different download. nothing worked. finally I guess he gave up trying and said he would speak with his coworkers and get back to me. It's a good thing I had found an alternative, because I am still to this day waiting for that return phone call, almost a year later! I have since deleted their files from my computer and purchased Bytescribe software. I would not recommend start-stop to anyone due to my experience. Their software costs too much money to sit and listen to a "tech support" get frustrated and then just throw up his hands and say "it's broke." and slink a way like a dog with its tail between its legs. I should have stood up for myself and demanded a refund, but I didn't. it's too late for me now, but I wouldn't do it if I were you. JMO. and good luck if you decide to purchase it.

I have used Start-Stop for many years and have not had any issues with it until recently when I needed to play a ds2 file. Start-Stop will NOT EVER be able to play ds2 files, according to their support department, and that supposedly has something to do with Olympus "not releasing" the files??? Anyway, I use Express Scribe if I need to play ds2 and use the Start-Stop for everything else. Originally got Start-Stop from a company I was working for and only recently paid for the upgrade, but then had to pay for the upgrade on Express Scribe as well. It seems that anything that will play ds2 files has to be purchased (Start-Stop, Express Scribe, Bytescribe, etc.) so I chose the least expensive, Express Scribe.

Does anyone who is using Emdat/Inscribe use this foot pedal? If so, does it work well for you? I am currently using an Infinity USB-1 foot pedal and even though I have configured it on the Emdat/Inscribe platform, it just doesn't work like it should. I checked the price of the Universal Start/Stop Foot Pedal and found that it costs around $100. I am reluctant to pay that much before finding out if it actually works well with this platform. MQ has made big changes to my primary account. Now things are all messed up and because of it, we have to re-enter redundant information in the ADT screen. For example, it says ADT Attending and ADT Admitting with the doc's names. Those aren't carrying over to the report now, for some reason, so we have to re-enter those docs names in the additional ADT field under attending and admitting. No one is going to do it for us. There is wage theft, minimum wage, changing of timecards, disrespect for our knowledge, ridiculous working conditions, bad management, and no communication. I am transcribing this dictator tonight who has had one patient with "infantigo" and on her "review of symptoms" she dictates "Eyes" as a subheading by itself then does HEENT later on in the review. Last night I did two fairly long duplex studies where the doctor says "use my standard" with a lot of "move this, take that out, insert this..." Not difficult, but time consuming. When I went in to look at my line count after my shift, I got a total of 20 lines for the two reports, or 16.48 cents! What gives with this? Did I miss the memo, or did they just not tell us? Next week they'll be asking us to pay them when we actually get work. :o( ...

I agree with that wholeheartedly. But unions CAN force fair compensation for the skill and experience with the new technology. I have never understood the concept that MTs should be paid half of what they normally get paid for straight typing when doing VR editing. Last night a friend stopped over and when she went to insert her jump drive into the USB port on front of the tower it did nothing. I have 2 of them and same thing, did nothing. It should have brought up her files. Maybe that is why whenever I try wireless keyboard and mouse it does not seem to work either and have had to return them.
