Using a keyboard with a laptop

The cheapo one I am using is really noisy and hard on my fingers. I have to pound the keys. I love the feel of the keyboard on my laptop but don't like using it for transcription because it doesn't have the numeric keypad on the right and for other ergonomic reasons. Hello, I have an HP Pavilion laptop. I'm having issues with my foot pedal and keyboard/mouse. I connect my foot pedal directly to USB port on laptop. I connect keyboard/mouse and headphones to USB HUB port. I continually lose foot pedal control. When I disconnect the keyboard/mouse, the pedal works again. Okay, I should have checked all this out before I bought a new computer, I know. But I didn't and now I am paying for it.
