Replacing thing where headphones plug in - Have you?

Posted: Dec 29, 2011

I'm going through packing tape like crazy trying to get my headphone plug to stay in place as the little thing it plugs into wobbles.  Have any of you ever replaced one of these? Is it hard? My dog ran by and tripped over the cord and it's been a nightmare ever since.

different option - been there

I do know of an alternative. This was years ago, but I bought a "doo-hickey" that was a usb plug on one end and it had a headphone jack in the other. I just looked them up and amazon and ebay has them. It was very inexpensive also. Good luck!

The hole you plug your headphones in is a jack - on your sound card.

If it's broken and you have onboard sound, like most laptops do, the only way to fix it is replace the motherboard or try to solder it. If it's not onboard sound, you can just buy a new sound card. If you're just wanting to fix the immediate issue at hand, you could just buy a USB adapter for your headphones to make them USB, or buy a new pair of actual USB headphones (I have a pair of Andrea NC-185vm headphones I got on Amazon that I really like). :O)

Replacing thing where headphones plug in - Is not really an option - Anna

Hi
Replacing thing where headphones plug in is not really an option as its likely you have onboard sound so the jack your talking about is built onto your motherboard.
If the pc jack is broken i would recomemnd you simply buy a set of headphones which have a usb connection instead.

Replacing Liability Insurance
May 29, 2012

The corp. I contract with is replacing Dictaphone and transcription with Powerscribe and editing.  I have been presented with an extensive contract which will supersede the transcription agreement I have had for 10+ years.  Aside from the disparity in pay and expectation to edit STATS for free, I have serious concerns about signing a contract that states I have full legal liability for the edited report and that I have to carry Workers Comp and 1-3 Million $ E&O and general liability insurance ...

Most Comfortable Headphones
Oct 15, 2009

Which headphones do you like the best in terms of comfort and quality? Some of the ones that fit inside the ears, the earbuds, make my ears sore. My boss suggested the noise-canceling kind that fit over the ears, but they are very expensive and they also look like they were be very heavy to wear. Any recommendations would be great, thank you. ...

Comfortable Headphones
Oct 18, 2009

I've always used just cheap stereo headphones but I want to try some of the ones that are made specifically for transcription. The problem is the kind that fit inside my ears can hurt, the ones that are more rounded buds and have foam on them. What headphones do you recommend that are comfortable inside the ear? I tried some recently from a fellow MT and I think they were made by Lanier but I can't remember, but they seemed comfortable. Is Lanier the best also for sound quality? I loo ...

Wireless Headphones
Sep 04, 2011

Does anyone have or know of where to get wireless headphones.  My cat has chewed through the wires of 3 sets of headphones (at $18 each its getting expensive).  After the first 2 sets I have been putting them in a drawer when not in use, but the cord sticks out of the drawer attached to the computer and she found her way around the box while I was watching TV and now my third set is gone.  Within seconds she chews right through the cord.  So, since there are wireless keyboard ...

What Type Of Headphones Do You Use? Why?
Nov 11, 2013

Another post got me wondering, what type of headphones / ear buds do you use and why? I, personally, switched to (in-ear) ear buds about 5 to 6 years ago.  I found a pair of Skull Candy (yes, odd name but good ear buds) that I loved and have used them since.  They have a lifetime warranty (which I've used a couple times just due to daily use, and have never had an issue).  I actually keep a backup pair in case they break, etc.  They're just the cheap ones, I belie ...

Headphones Good Set ?
Mar 02, 2015

I would like some good input on a "good" set of headphones.  I have used Bose QuietComfort in-ear headphones, which work fine, but I am looking for something with better clarity.  I have tried Sennheiser HD 598, but can hear others around me at times.  I am partially deaf in my right ear due to several ear infections in my adult years.  I want to see what other folks are using and decide which ones to purchase.  I look forward to your feedback and suggestions. ICD-10 Codes Replacing ICD-9 Codes

Good morning all, I am a long-time MT considering medical coding as a new career as I love the medical language profession and do not want to leave, however, keeping a long-time MT job that makes money I can live on is becoming almost nonexist. Only thing I have to do is pass the exam and become certified. She had to become ce ...
