Comfortable headphones - MTmama

Posted: Oct 18, 2009

I've always used just cheap stereo headphones but I want to try some of the ones that are made specifically for transcription. The problem is the kind that fit inside my ears can hurt, the ones that are more rounded buds and have foam on them. What headphones do you recommend that are comfortable inside the ear? I tried some recently from a fellow MT and I think they were made by Lanier but I can't remember, but they seemed comfortable. Is Lanier the best also for sound quality?

I looked at some Bose noise-canceling but they seemed so big and heavy (fit outside the ear).

I've always had that problem with headphones, too...the kind that fit in my ears kills me...UNTIL I tried some noise-canceling headphones from Walmart. I can't remember the name of them, but they are about $28. Best doggone headphones I've ever used. I think they only sell the one brand in the noise canceling kind. Might check them out.

Koss Custom Fit KE29A. Bought these earbuds at Walmart. They have different sized rubber pieces so you can customize them to your ear size. They are great for isolating noise, too.

I was wondering the same thing - Kelley

Mine are falling apart, the one ear has no sound- you can imagine how that makes my day go. I was going to purchase some trascription-specific ones online, but now I think I'll go to walmart and get them really quick!

I love the Koss DC-10. Check out dictationwarehouse.com--they have tons of different brands and styles. Mine fit in the ear but have soft rubber---when I first get them they hurt a little but once I break them in, they are wonderful. Good at noise cancellation and only 20 dollars.

Most Comfortable Headphones

Which headphones do you like the best in terms of comfort and quality? Some of the ones that fit inside the ears, the earbuds, make my ears sore. My boss suggested the noise-canceling kind that fit over the ears, but they are very expensive and they also look like they were be very heavy to wear. Any recommendations would be great, thank you. ...

What Do You Do To Make Yourself Comfortable
Jul 30, 2010

I get soo uncomfortable sitting for at least 8 hours every day.  My right arm and hand just ache/sore constantly, and my fingers, especially on my right hand, are really getting painful.  I sit with my keyboard on my lap (on a pillow), sit with a pillow underneath and behind me.  My heel even hurts from using the foot pedal.  I'm wondering if a left hand keyboard would work for me, or an ergonomic.  I've used an ergonomic before (it broke) and didn't recal ...

Making Your Workstation Comfortable?
Nov 11, 2010

Hi ladies, I'm coming to realize that even though I've been searching and searching for another job, I'm going to be MT'ing for some time to come.  I'm rather uncomfortable while typing all day, from my hands, arms, bottom, ears from the headphones, my foot from hitting the pedal.  I have pillows under my foot and bottom and even my back and it doesn't help as much as I would like.  I'm using a regular Microsoft keyboard and mouse, neither real ...

Does Anyone Feel Comfortable Posting What They Will Receive In UE?
Apr 06, 2013

I'm FT, been with MM for 15 years.  I'm a single mom of one teenager, my average income is ~around $1200/mo.  Does that make a difference?   I'm just trying to figure out if I got "the call", if the UE I (or any of us) receive is enough to pay bills with.  If it's close to what I earn I will be OK.  If it's $200/mo I will be in huge trouble.      ...

"Comfortable" Line Count
Feb 14, 2011

For those of you who work on production, how long did it take for you to be comfortable with the line count you're transcribing?    "Comfortable" may not be the appropriate word because the amount of money is never enough for the majority of us but enough to pay your bills and still some left over to treat yourself, vacation, save.  I'm still getting used to being paid on production and I don't mind it, but I still want to work on producing more to become comfortabl ...

Wireless Headphones
Sep 04, 2011

Does anyone have or know of where to get wireless headphones.  My cat has chewed through the wires of 3 sets of headphones (at $18 each its getting expensive).  After the first 2 sets I have been putting them in a drawer when not in use, but the cord sticks out of the drawer attached to the computer and she found her way around the box while I was watching TV and now my third set is gone.  Within seconds she chews right through the cord.  So, since there are wireless keyboard ...

Headphones Or Earphones

What Type Of Headphones Do You Use? Why?
Nov 11, 2013

Another post got me wondering, what type of headphones / ear buds do you use and why? I, personally, switched to (in-ear) ear buds about 5 to 6 years ago.  I found a pair of Skull Candy (yes, odd name but good ear buds) that I loved and have used them since.  They have a lifetime warranty (which I've used a couple times just due to daily use, and have never had an issue).  I actually keep a backup pair in case they break, etc.  They're just the cheap ones, I belie ...

Headphones Good Set ?
Mar 02, 2015

I would like some good input on a "good" set of headphones.  I have used Bose QuietComfort in-ear headphones, which work fine, but I am looking for something with better clarity.  I have tried Sennheiser HD 598, but can hear others around me at times.  I am partially deaf in my right ear due to several ear infections in my adult years.  I want to see what other folks are using and decide which ones to purchase.  I look forward to your feedback and suggestions.
