Why does my W2 say "Transcend Services?" - Does everyones say that?

I thought I worked for Nuance, not Transcend? I was hired by Nuance 3 years ago. I've never worked for Transcend.

Mine says Transcend also. I have never worked for them - hired by Nuance 2 years ago. - mt2

Doesn't that mess things up when you say you're employed by Nuance but Transcend comes up? WTH!

That's what I was thinking--on my taxes I - state my employer is Nuance

Just checked my pay checks and they say it too! Never noticed that before.

I wonder if it has something to do with the Transcend buyout and also when we switched from that other company managing our HR stuff like this to ADP.

So what I want to know is, who the heck do - we work for?

Terrible management of this company, whichever company it happens to be...I'm not even sure anymore.

I don't know about other buyouts, but in the case of Transcend, those of us who worked for Transcend before the buyout still work for Transcend because Transcend became a "wholly owned subsidiary" of Nuance, which just means that Transcend is still a company with its own employees, but its stock is 100% controlled by Nuance. It could be that the MTs from other smaller buyouts also become employees of Transcend--this is just speculation on my part, however.

Transcend used ADP and the contract was probably still under that name or something. Honestly, as long as the checks don't bounce, I don't care whose name is on them, just wish they were bigger.

What should we put on our tax forms? - Nuance or Transcend?

I am not sure that it matters. The federal employer ID number is likely what matters and what they trace.

Does that mean we get included in on the lawsuit against Transcend? - curiousaboutit

No, you had to opt in to the lawsuit, it's not an automatic thing....

I emailed payroll about this. My question was "Could you please tell me why the W2 says I work for Transcend instead of Nuance?" and here is the reply I got - "Our legal name is TRANSCEND SVC DBA NUANCE TRANSCRIPTION SVCS. INC." In my opinion, this still doesn't answer my question.

Here is the reply I got from payroll. Have a good day everyone. "When we acquired Transcend, a decision was made to use the federal id number to process payroll. We are still Nuance Transcription Services, hence the DBA (doing business as). The only thing the IRS needs is the FED ID Number."

True to form for Nuance - they change as little as possible

When they gobble up a company. In terms of software, timekeeping, that is.

They will force you to merge to their (usually inferior) platform and train the speech engine all over again - slowing down transcription and with us having the frustration of working on something that worked perfectly to have to start at the beginning again with a new, inferior platform - for no extra pay, of course.

But anything else they keep. You ever notice how many different platforms we are all on, also different time keeping procedures?

I am sure the tech people are told that anything that makes things harder for the MT does not matter in the least and that they are to only concentrate on making things easier for management or the client.

What they do change entirely is your salary, working conditions, and any feeling you might have that you were actually good at your job and happy to do it. These things all go downhill fast.

I formally worked for Transcend Services and would advise people not to work for this organization. They are now switching over to Nuance, but stay away from them. They are extremely critical of everything you do. This is supposedly because they think they have such high standards, but they just enjoy being mean and critical to transcriptionists, who pay everyone's salaries. I want to warn all who look for jobs on this site of a company to be aware of - Interpro Services, Inc out of Arizona. They are ruthless, have the worst dictators in the industry and management could not care less whether you make any money or not. When you complain, you get "your contract terminated".
