A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
I thought 'medical transcriptionist' might be one of them but it wasn't listed, undoubtedly because of the pay. When I think about the medical-terminology knowledge, attention to accuracy, interpretative skills, diligence, focus, PATIENCE (can you say 'lousy dictator'-!), critical thinking, and--well, you get the idea--involved in our job, not to mention the fact that without our contribution to the medical record, the entire health-care system would collapse due to lack of documentation and inability to communicate, it makes me sad that our profession isn't afforded the respect it (and WE) deserve.
Sorry to get so deep here...I'm just feeling kind of disillusioned. But I'm still busting proud of what I do!!!--Corporate's low pay and lack of tangible (i.e. monetary) appreciation can't take THAT away from me!!!
Thanks for listening--I'll shut up now because I know you guys have heard it all before and I don't want to be a downer!
