Nuance or Transend ? - Curious

I have been offered a position with Transcend or Nuance. I don't know which one to choose. Any info is appreciated, although I have noticed on this website that MTs don't like to give good feedback on a company they work for because they don't want work taken away from them. Thank you !

Yes, I know they bought them, but I was told that I could have an acct on the Transcend side or Nuance side. Was told that Transcend accts have more ESL. Just wondering which accts seem to be better and if one side has more VR than the other. How about the platforms? Which has the easier one? Thanks

I work for Transcend before bought out by Nuance. I work for a good region that always has work available. I have seen many posts by Nuance employees who run out of work, but not familiar. Lots of VR editing and ESL for transcend, but you get used to your region and use the samples docs get easy to learn.

Transcend seems to be more flexible from what I read here about Nuance. You - can work extra and scheduling is pretty

Nuance versus Transcend - Anyone

Always difficult to answer this type of question. Have worked for both. Likes and dislikes for both. Everything depends on the region/accounts you are assigned and who your team leader is. Had some great team leads with Nuance, but one very bad one, had some so-so accounts. Have had only good leads with Transcend but not great accounts. Since we are all under the same company now, Nuance, why not go with them so you will be on their payroll (every 2 weeks) and using their time-keeping system as opposed to having to transition over to that when the merger is complete. I will say one thing for Nuance and for all of us working for them, with these mergers, they are accumulating some great companies, good accounts, and some first-rate MTs.

I wonder if it matters other than name on your paycheck. We - are training and typing on Transcend accounts too

I don't know how long Transcend plans to keep their platform running so I guess you would need to transition to Nuance way at some point, so maybe it would be easier to just start there?

I haven't worked for DTS long, but knew Transcend was taking over and so far that looks good. I have had problems getting straight answers from DTS supervisor since hired, like when the supervisor, TL, and QA people were on duty. Is it legal for a supervisor to threaten the group of MT's with monetary penalty for making a very common error on a certain dictator's demographic info? A DTS America supervisor said this was in place now due to repeated errors on demographic info/signature line. Are we stupid? Are we in kindergarten? According to a poster below which has apparently already attended one of the payroll meetings (as the poster posted) for nuance they have decided to keep the incentive part of all of our pay going with an exception that now you have to have over the industry standard of 98% to get a production based incentive. In addition (if this poster is accurate) they have again cut the overall pay from 8 and 4 to 3 3/4 AND 7 1/2. This is nothing but a bunch of crapploa...an MT who is now getting ...

I thought they were 2 different services. Everyone is buying out everyone, so who knows. All the small companies have been merged I guess. I thought Nuance was out of New York and were the primary with VR. Maybe one has to keep up with the changes and be a member and pay the dues and go to the meetings with AAMT and be a CMT to keep up with the changes, even though you still get 4 cents. ...

Does anyone know why the ad says "No inquiries from overseas" when they obviously offshore the work? Anyone reading that would incorrectly assume they do not offshore. If Webmedx does away with or changes their recently advertised "PRODUCTION BASED INCENTIVE" bonus and adopts the Nuance quality based bonus then this change may be considered by quite a few WMX employees as yet another cut in pay. Is this true? Because if so that means they dont take into consideration years of experience, opportunity for increase or nothing. Seems kind of hard to work for an obviously big and successful company that is only willing to pay their employees 0.41 cpl and thats it, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. I received an incentive bonus this paycheck (for the first time ever). My QA score was 99.3%. So, I get an email today from my supervisor that my latest audit was only 98.2% and they are going to reaudit me in 2 weeks to see if my score is improving or if I need further disciplinary action. In house just got outsourced to Nuance. In our meeting, they said the PTO is 10 days total, which you have to use for holidays and sick time as well. So, if you take all 6 holidays (if that is even possible), you get 4 days off a year? Not even a week for vacation left over. I have been with Nuance a few years. I'm an MT. I'm not the best MT out there, nor am I the worst. I read the comments on these boards and my jaw is on the floor. FYI, not everyone has the bad experiences that have been discussed on this site. I AM SO LIVID! These QCs are unbelievable! I used "and" instead of "the" and the QC marks me off for English misspelling/typo which is a 0.5 error instead of an English word misuse which is less at 0.25. Do you think "and" and "the" are typos? I think not! You see, this is evidence that they are being totally unfair and proof that they do not want anyone to make incentive! This is my opinion!
