Nuance/filing for under-employment

I was offered a position at Nuance and was surprised to get the employment agreement that states I will be an "at-will" employee and that I must apply again in one year as the employment agreement is only for one year. I was shocked. I have never heard of this. I am middle-aged and have never heard of "at-will" employment. I have also never had to reapply with a company after 1 year. what kind of questions do they ask you? Do we just tell them that we're supposed to be at 39 hours and are getting only x amount of hours? And do we just give them our lines rates?
