Nuance-Supplies - MT

Does Nuance supply dictionaries, shorthand, PC, etc.? Can you copy your shorthand and load it on to Nuance shortand if hired? Thinking about applying.
Haha! All they supply is a foot pedal. Too bad I - FormerCMT

Can't give you the $30+ Shorthand program I recently bought before quitting. You will probably regret working for Nuance. It's a terrible and dishonest company. Just read all the Nuance posts on this forum. I wish I had before I wasted time and money on this awful company.
I wouldn't make your choice strictly based on this board. - anon

If you need a job there are far worse places than Nuance. At least here you have a shot at an incentive bonus. I am the first to complain about the QA, but outside of that, if you do your job, they pretty much leave you alone. There are OOW situations but nothing like what seems to be happening at MModal (I work for MModal too and they are much worse, i.e. paying only 1 cpl if you send too much to QA). Also Editscript is a much more user friendly platform. I get at least 50-100 lph more at Nuance than I can at MModal.
Anyway, I would take anything said on these boards with a grain of salt, including positive posts. Everyone has a different experience at these jobs based on account assignment, team lead assignment and a myriad of other factors. You just never know until you try it.
Does Nuance micromanage your time? - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
I am getting so tired of that at MM. Productivity stats all the time showing how much "inactive" time I have. I'm being paid on production, why do they care how much inactive time I have. I am maintaining LPH and quality. Does Nuance do that? Do they leave you alone to work? Seriously thinking about switching. I guess the QA is N's stress though. Six of 1 or half dozen of the other, guess it's all the same.
RE: "Inactive" time. - anon

I HATE the whole BOOST thing at MModal. Nuance does NOT do that. If you don't meet line count and you end up having to get make-up pay, then they will ask you what the heck you are doing when you are clocked in.
If you meet your lines (which Editscript is much more user friendly than Fluency) then they leave you alone.
If you get lazy with your schedule, you will hear about that eventually, unless you are doing it to flex for OOW, which, again, is nothing like the NJA situation at MModal right now.
Having worked for both Nuance and MModal, if I had to choose, it would be Nuance by a mile, even with the crazy QA.
They are micromanaging your time now, comparing - keyboard time to actual SM
[ In Reply To ..]
system hours time. They allow a variance (cannot remember what it is)but again since we are on production, I find this unnecessary. We are not paid if we are not producing so there is no need to monitor this IMO. No one is "getting over on Nuance" like someone might do being paid hourly. I just shake my head at things like this now because there is no explanation for this and otherwise I would just be angry all the time. I just do my job the best I can and hope my work is not all offshored. I have no control of any of it, no input, no value really, no rights. This is happening around the country with many types of jobs and it is what it is.
Working for MModal gives "micro managing" a whole new meaning. - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
MModal's BOOST system is ridiculous. At Nuance if you make your line count and are not on MUP pay, they don't tend to harass you about your "inactive" time.
I am just speaking based on my own experience, Nuance has a better platform (Escription versus Fluency) and if I send to much to QA I may not qualify for bonus that pay period but at MModal they cut my pay by 3 cpl.
No contest, Nuance is the lesser of the 2 evils.
Yes, but if you are OOW - SM
[ In Reply To ..]
Even though there may be scraps in other accounts, you have to sign in and out of several accounts a day just to get the crap that India didn't want. Do you know how many different passwords that is and how often you have to change your password? Do they make you do that at M-modal? By the way, the out of work situation is terrible at Nuance. Don't let the poster above fool you. About 85% of it goes to India. How could there be work? Nuance is the wrong decision.
Some truth and some not so much SM - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
I have had OOW situations but not much lately. I have had to move around a bit to get there though.
True, at MModal you don't have to sign in and out of a bunch of screens like Nuance. However, Editscript is so much better than Fluency so my line count is way better.
It is an absolute fact that Nuance does not stalk your every move like MM.
And I see that you didn't dispute the fact that at MM if you send too much to QA (5% or more) you only get paid 1 cpl for VR. That in and of itself is a deal breaker and worse than anything at Nuance.
What happened to DQS. Is Fluency a part of the program? - nm
[ In Reply To ..]
I loved DQS and was very productive on it.
They call it Fluenc y now but it is DQS. - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
I hate it and do not find it productive at all.
Let me put it this way. I can get 350+ lines on Editscript under ideal conditions, with Fluency (DQS) I can get 180ish under ideal conditions.
The VR on the accounts I am on is extremely horrible. I have found Editscript does a much better job. This is just my experience.
I disagree. There are no worse places than Nuance - SM
Nuance is the worst, which is why employees are dropping off like flies, but you keep trying to disillusion all these MTs who are thinking of applying for Nuance. I just hope they don't all buy your hoodwink.
Nuance is not the worst, not even close. - anon

Funny how your experience seems to be the the only one that is valid. You see negative posts on here and automatically think that is the norm for a company, which it isn't. I would say less than 15 MTs post on this board. That is hardly a consensus on anything.
The angriest people yell the loudest, but that does not make them right.
Nuance has some serious negatives (QA) but they also have some good points.
It is the norm for the company - SM
[ In Reply To ..]
There are way more than 15 people unhappy at this company, but you don't have to believe me and neither does anyone else. I'm not saying mine is the only experience that is valid. I'm trying to warn people away from an experience that took a lot of my life away from me and made me miserable. No one has to believe me. I just wish I had someone warning me before I started there. It was (in my opinion and the opinion of many of my counterparts) a terrible experience in every way. I'm not angry in the least. I don't even work there anymore, thank goodness. I'm very happy now. If you think you're right, so be it. I'm satisfied with being wrong if it dissuades even 1 person from signing on. And I'm done. Nothing more to say, really. It is what it is.
You are 100% correct. Good answer. I'm not angry - FormerCMT

Either. Very glad I found a new non MT job. Nuance was so bad (as I'm sure other MT services are), it was the reason I decided to get out of the MT field after 30+ years. There is no perfect job, but believe the negative posts on here. It's obvious there are many MTs experiencing the same issues with Nuance.
Many have negative experience, not all. Absolute statements like that are false on their face. - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
I would never in a million years NOT take a job based on anything on this board. I don't know anyone who posts nor do I know what motives they might have for posting.
In fact, before I took a job at Nuance and MModal, I came on here and read all the nasty, nasty commentary. Then disregarded it instantly.
You have to make your own choices in life. Your experience is nothing like mine. So fine you "know" others had horrible experiences like you, I don't doubt it. However, not everyone has the same horrible experience. Of course, anyone who DARES to say one positive thing on the Nuance or MModal board will be instantly attacked and called multiple names until they just shake their head and move on, unlike the negative posters who post the same thing over and over and over and over every single day.
Like I said, I didn't listen to any of the negative stuff on the board and now work for both Nuance and MModal. Based on actually working for both, Nuance (in my personal experience) is the better choice. I make almost twice as many lines an hour at Nuance because Editscript is just so much better than DQS.
They supply a footpedal and dictionary is loaded into the platform. - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
They do not supply a computer. I have no clue whether you can load your shorthand or not.
The "Webmedx" side provides a PC, monitor, pedal, keyboard... - see message

...spellcheck dictionary as part of the platform. They do not provide Shorthand, but most MLSs purchase their own copy to use. It's very inexpensive. And yes, you can load your Shorthand onto your company PC.
When did you start? Is there still a "Webmedx" side? - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
I was told flat out, Nuance DOES NOT supply computer. Foot pedal only.
Very odd.
I wasn't supplied dingus - nm

yet, I was an "employee." Funny how that works.

Never heard that word before. Is it the same as "bupkis?" Made me look it up, my word for the day.
Does anyone know of a transcription service that supplies the computer like MQ? I need a new job. I am making half as much as I was 2 years ago at MQ due to ASR and pay cut ...
I just recently bought Microsoft Word 2007 program on EBay and was told by seller that I would receive this in 3 to 4 days. HA, what a big joke that was. It has been 9 days now since purchase on March 24. Also I thought that UPS was delivering it which would be much better. No, wrong again. They are giving free delivery by USPS with high priority. Oh Wonderful -- so happy that it gets high priority. In that case, I might just get this before ...
According to a poster below which has apparently already attended one of the payroll meetings (as the poster posted) for nuance they have decided to keep the incentive part of all of our pay going with an exception that now you have to have over the industry standard of 98% to get a production based incentive.
In addition (if this poster is accurate) they have again cut the overall pay from 8 and 4 to 3 3/4 AND 7 1/2. This is nothing but a bunch of crapploa...an MT who is now getting ...
that fall during the shift. For example, if half of your hours fall in 3rd shift and half fall in 1st shift, do the 3rd shift hours pay more cpl? Or, do all hours have to fall within the shift to qualify?
Thanks,

I thought they were 2 different services. Everyone is buying out everyone, so who knows. All the small companies have been merged I guess. I thought Nuance was out of New York and were the primary with VR. Maybe one has to keep up with the changes and be a member and pay the dues and go to the meetings with AAMT and be a CMT to keep up with the changes, even though you still get 4 cents. ...
Does anyone know why the ad says "No inquiries from overseas" when they obviously offshore the work? Anyone reading that would incorrectly assume they do not offshore. I was reading an article in the newspaper that a journalist was talking about a few days ago regarding the hospital outsourcing to the Web/Nuance, and the spokesperson for the hospital said in the article that the company only employs US MTs. ...
The ad Nuance has up says increased PTO. Anyone willing to tell me what it is now.
Also information on their bonus program would be helpful.
Thank you. ...
....First send us an email with fabulous Nuance ins (bad news) because they had to announce that due to open season. However at the same time telling us that the new pay structure (probably more bad news) will be announced at a later date but will be effective Jan 1 2012. Good way to keep us hanging on while they are so behind with their horrid platform.
Guess what Nuance/Nuisance, it will not work as your reputation has gone from bad to worse and we are now realizing that the We ...
If Webmedx does away with or changes their recently advertised "PRODUCTION BASED INCENTIVE" bonus and adopts the Nuance quality based bonus then this change may be considered by quite a few WMX employees as yet another cut in pay. I’m sure that there are quite a few MT’s currently at WMX that have a high QA average and are earning $300-$400 (some even more) in production incentive pay each pay period, which equates to $600-$800 per month.
As an example, acco ...
Is there a specific QA staff? I was under the impression that the team managers did most of the QA. Is that correct? Or how is the QA done? Someone said below that QA is paid hourly; I was under the impression it was cpl.
Any info on QA structure for Nuance would be helpful. Thanks in advance. ...
I have an interview this week with Nuance. Any advice on what to expect? I'm interviewing for an MT job and have been reading some posts on here about the company and it's not looking good. ...

Can anyone help me with instructions on how to create a new entry in the carbon copy? I am getting lots of dictations where I can't find that particular physician in the CC list and need to create a new one. I am new and need help. Thanks in advance! ...
Is this true? Because if so that means they dont take into consideration years of experience, opportunity for increase or nothing.
Seems kind of hard to work for an obviously big and successful company that is only willing to pay their employees 0.41 cpl and thats it, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. I mean they dont come off to be the type of company that "cant" afford to give increases in pay to their transcriptionist.
I heard that if you work from 10pm to 6pm you can make 0.46 cpl, bet ...
Anyone willing to share how much per line they make with VR or straight transcription? Or any information how the company is with raises? Thank you ...
I received an incentive bonus this paycheck (for the first time ever). My QA score was 99.3%. So, I get an email today from my supervisor that my latest audit was only 98.2% and they are going to reaudit me in 2 weeks to see if my score is improving or if I need further disciplinary action. WTF? I've been with Nuance for 3 years and think it's time to jump ship. This company is messed up, and the QA is so inconsistent. ...
Nuance servers were down all day yesterday as well as Transcend servers? Really? We were told in an email it had nothing to do with Nuance. That's quite a coincidence, don't ya think? Oh gosh, I sure hope this doesn't indicate the way things are going to go in the future with Nuance. Does this happen often there? ...
In house just got outsourced to Nuance. In our meeting, they said the PTO is 10 days total, which you have to use for holidays and sick time as well. So, if you take all 6 holidays (if that is even possible), you get 4 days off a year? Not even a week for vacation left over. Someone asked if that changes with time of service and they said no, that will never go up. ARE YOU KIDDING? Is this what the rest of you get for PTO, or is this just something they have s ...
I have been with Nuance a few years. I'm an MT. I'm not the best MT out there, nor am I the worst. I read the comments on these boards and my jaw is on the floor. FYI, not everyone has the bad experiences that have been discussed on this site. I can't account for the horrible things I hear people saying about Nuance, except to say if things are really that bad for you, maybe MT is not for you or Nuance is not a good fit for your career path. ...
I AM SO LIVID! These QCs are unbelievable! I used "and" instead of "the" and the QC marks me off for English misspelling/typo which is a 0.5 error instead of an English word misuse which is less at 0.25.
Do you think "and" and "the" are typos? I think not!
You see, this is evidence that they are being totally unfair and proof that they do not want anyone to make incentive! This is my opinion! Anything to bring your score down! Man this pisses me off!&n ...
I don't work for Nuance but have a question. Somewhere on MTStars, I saw the amount they deduct from your pay if your QA percentage is low. Please explain. How much do they pay per line and how much do they deduct if you have low QA percentage? Thanks so much in advance. I have looked and looked but can't find the previous post. ...
There is someone who claims to be a QC for Nuance and that they are only paid minimum wage for this position. That is utter nonsense. Why would any experienced MLS take a minimum wage job in the MT industry when you could make more than that on production easily. If you are experienced enough to be in QC or QA then please don't lie to the rest of us and tell us that you only make minimum wage.

I am really in need of a job, and because I like eScription and ExText for the most part, I thought Nuance was the most likely candidate. However, I'm hearing terrible things about them.
I know some have good experiences and some bad, but I'm not in a position where I want to struggle through several months of working and then quit because there's no money in it.
I did have an interview, and my red flag was that the interviewer said that they had 80 to 100% ESL on some ac ...
