Nuance Bayscribe - Debbie

Nuance has a transcription (no editing) position posted on findtranscriptionwork.com utilizing Bayscribe. Anyone with experience that can tell me what Bayscribe is like to work with. I did not know Nuance offered straight transcription? Thanks,

I used it when I worked for OTI. It's okay, user friendly. If I remember right, you have to enter all the info on the demo screen. Of course, you are not paid for it. Other than that, it's okay.

It is the best platform I've ever worked on - the demo info isn't difficult, you pick the name and it enters the information - then you just go down to where you need to be and simply type. With a good glossary, you can easily do mega lines per hour, at least I can. :)

This poster is absolutely correct about the cherrypicking. It's an easy setup for the person who wants to cherrypick the really good dictators. However, IF you have a good TSM, they can usually spot a cherrypicker a mile away. I know when I worked the Bayscribe platform, my TSM would check regularly to be sure that the oldest jobs were being pulled first, and she would note in emails to the team that she knew who had what job and when it was pulled, reminding them that they shouldn't be pulling jobs out of order or by preference. There was little to no cherrypicking going on when I worked the platform under her because as soon as it started happening, she shut it down. Of course, that was with a totally different MTSO. With Nuance, our TSMs have SO many people to oversee, it's has to be very difficult to manage everything they have thrown at them and I'm sure it would be just as difficult for them to have time to sit and monitor whether there was any cherrypicking happening. I have an awesome TSM (Thank God!), and she still doesn't have enough time for everything.

The fact that the TSM knows its happening and is too busy to do anything about it, that has a direct impact on my paycheck, morale, and desire to help out or work extra. If she doesn't care if the workload is evenly distributed, why should I want to work overtime? It's just more crappy dictators, more time spent for less money. Sorry, but threats she is watching don't make me feel any better. People are still cherrypicking, so nothing is happening. I guess that says it all.

I worked in Bayscribe, way back in the day when I was with MDI. I had absolutely no problem at all transitioning to that platform from whatever it was I was usuing prior to that (have used so many platforms now that I can't even remember them all! lol).

I always did love straight transcription (no editing), and I found very few platforms transcriptionist-friendly when it came to straight transcription usually because the person(s) who developed the platform/software had never transcribed ANYTHING EVER.

I haven't worked in Bayscribe for quite a while, probably at least 6 years, but I found it easy to maneuver, very easy to learn because I was totally unfamiliar with it to begin with, and pretty straightforward.

Also, I never had to call Tech Support constantly to fix this or fix that while working in Bayscribe. I never had a single solitary technical support issue while using that platform. In my opinion, that ALONE is a huge positive!

I think Bayscribe transcription platform is the cleanest, nicest, most user friendly, intuitive platform I've ever worked on in the 12+ years I've been a transcriptionist. I've used it for the past several years. I know, though, that it can vary from account to account and is not completely uniform in features, but I've utilized it with several different accounts, and it's an overall great platform. My SpeedType (Shorthand) expander works with it, too, though Bayscribe comes with an expander if needed. At first my Speedtype expander failed, but I used the Troubleshooting option that comes with Windows 7 and it has functioned ever since. The one drawback is the spellchecker that is installed with Bayscribe; it's not all that great and certainly seems to be lagging on current medications and a lot of medical terms, too.

To those of you who currently work on or have worked on Bayscribe, do you know if there is a certain upload speed you need to work with this platform? I am currently working on eBeyondTXT and have suddenly developed internet issues and where I live prohibits me from getting a faster internet speed. Thank you.

I updated to IE10 from IE9 and now the QA marker won't work. Anybody know what to do to get it to work? Anybody working on Bayscribe in IE10? I key in Alt-Q and the marker comes up, but when I press enter or okay with the mouse, the box goes away and no marker in the text. I can go in an uninstall the update if need be, but I was hoping this would work. TIA. ...

I started with a company using BayScribe. I have a rather unusual problem. The BayScribe expander will not function in the document. I can bring it up via Control F3 and can add entries, but they will not expand. When my machine is entered remotely, that user IS able to expand, but within the same session, I still cannot expand. I have uninstall, reinstalled, Norton off, IE setting fine. Toggling on and off makes no difference. I have been troubleshootin ...

Bayscribe shuts down a couple times a day and I have been getting this message ~ "Malfunction or malicious ad-on caused Internet Explorer to close web page."
