Okay everyone... who knew TTS and Nuance were affiliated??

Come to find out, they do our "overflow" and here's the nasty, subversive part -- They get paid more to do it. Feelin' the love.

What ticked me off is that one of TTS's "new" accounts is one I was moved off of at Nuance due to lack of work.

It makes no sense to move a bunch of us from Nuance off an account we know and then pay someone else more to do it. I have hated every account I have been on since then.

By "they" do you mean TTS or the MT? I'm with TTS and didn't know they were affiliated with anyone but figured it out eventually. I think you're wrong about getting paid more. I get 0.0326/line. How does that compare to what you got; more or less?

Thus the reason all of the Nuance MTs were moved off that account and they farmed it out to TTS.

Irritating, however, that Nuance MTs sit with no work while they send work out to another company in addition to all the stuff they send overseas.

We're starting to get NJA more often, too. My guess is they're sending more and more offshore which leaves not much of anything for either of us.

Well as long as you are good knowing you are affiliated with Nuance and all that encompasses... the facts I got the other day suggested 9 for typed and 4.5 for edited -- better than we are getting at Nuance. I wish I knew the right answer, other than retirement or finding a totally different job. Good luck whatever you choose!

Thanks for the info...I did not realize they were affiliated with Nuance...Nuance made me an offer a few weeks ago and I thought it was rather low and I did not like how the contract was worded so did not take it...Was thinking of going back into transcription, however, I think I should look for something else as I have not seen many positive posts on any company.

Last hear 03/2012, TTS offered me 4 cpl for VR and 7.5 cpl for traditional/type. Didn't take it. Honestly, I thought that was too low. However, very, very nice people and heard a lot of good about them.

Okay, I'm new so I am not making much yet. Can we all just make a post saying how many hours we work, what we gross, how long you've been transcribing, and whether it is vr or st? Don't name your company. This way we can guage what we can expect to be making down the line. I've been transcribing for 2 months. Why do companies call you and if you are not there they leave a number. Then when you call back they are not there. You tell them that you are interested, but they never call back. I even called back twice and never got a call back. Plus I have had companies send me e-mails that they are interested and fill out the form. Then I never here anything. I JUST WANT TO VENT. I don't remember the exact name of this new NBC show making a comedy out of outsourcing - but I think we all need to find out who or where to write and tell them OUTSOURCING OVERSEAS IS NOT FUNNY!! In searching the web for a new job I keep running into federal and state stats that say the low end salary of a newbie transcriptionist is $14 and high end is $24. They must be talking American dollars because Indians make $0.78 an hour. They also say it is a growing field (so much so it's spilling into the sea and floating to India) and there is a high demand for experienced medical transcriptionists (!?) Did anyone see the show Undercover Boss last night? Do ya think the suits at MQ would do that - ha, never would be a consideration for them -- if any of them did see it, they probably laughed. They don't realize and don't care to realize what we do to fill their pockets. When looking for a job and you're on unemployment and have to show proof of the job search, is it possible to use all these MT companies? I mean, we take all this time to submit applications and take tests and then don't get hired...it seems we could use them as job contacts. Has anyone done this and it was okay? ...

I have worked for Hands-On for a few years now and I think it is a well run company. I recently had surgery for breast cancer, and the owner and manager were very compassionate and concerned for my well being. They are always available to help if I have a question. It is one of the best jobs I have had. Date: 10.21.09 I am 44 and a medical transcriptionist. I started working as an MT at age 35 and since then has been doing this job. For the last one year I have been experiencing numbness and paresthesias in both hands and lots of trouble with neck stiffness and fasciculations in both shoulders.
