How many Nuance MTs have Windows XP - Just curious

1. Do you need to buy a new computer?

2. Do you need to buy Microsoft Office?

3. Can your Windows XP be upgraded.

4. Do you have a company computer?

5. Why is Nuance making it mandatory to replace Windows XP?

Company computer with XP. Nuance says they will send new PC with everything.

Don't believe XP can be upgraded by sticking in a disk and everything runs perfectly. I think it is what they call a clean install and most MTs are going to want help with that.

I have had in home tech support on previous computers and it can take many hours to get everything working smoothly and then everything has to be reloaded by Nuance as far as their software.

I don't have to buy Word, but many will. I think you need an older version of that to be compatible with Nuance software too.

With our pay I don't think Nuance realizes that we can no longer afford to provide our own computers or hire technical in-home support. My tech guy charges $70 an hour.

Even making monthly payments for a new computer is going to be difficult for most.

Microsoft is no longer going to support XP with updates for security etc., because it is an older system and so this will cause a security breach when using an XP system, hence the need for upgrading.

Nuance is sending you a newer computer? - Do you have to pay for it?

I am getting no answers from tech or supervisor as to the policy for company computers with Windows XP.

Yes, they are exchanging out the Webmedx computers. We have to send the old ones back. We don't have to pay for it as far as I know.

Well that shocks me!! I was told I had to send in my computer ASAP and that Nuance was not loaning out anymore computers. I had to go out and buy a computer and Microsoft Word and had to borrow the money to do that, money I couldn't afford to borrow in the first place.

Where's my new computer - I could really use a complimentary computer!

These are not just given to us. When we were Webmedx we put up deposits for the use of these machines.

not supply a new computer, as this would be a net gift to you, in my opinion as someone who has always had to supply all computer/software resources on my own dime. Each day I use my computer, it depreciates, getting closer to needing replacement, which I will also have to fund myself.

I'm wondering because posting says now compatible with Windows 7/64 systems, but actual information on job info page for the application says 32 bit systems only but that is as of Feb. Anyone know for sure? I have 8 GB of memory and only Vista 64 and Windows 7 can utilize higher than 4 GB of memory. The 32 bit systems can only utilize a max of 4 GB of memory. Has anyone ever wanted to work for a company that only used Windows XP and you had Windows 7 but could virtually move to XP mode? I have read other posts on this site with respect to this subject but just wondering if anyone using Windows 7 is able to use DQS 6.1 64-bit OS with it. Every machine you purchase comes preloaded with it and I want to buy a new machine but if Windows 7 64-bit doesn't work properly, I won't even bother yet. Can maybe someone answer my question. I purchased a new computer last year with the new Windows 7 home premium operating system. For the Internet Explorer, I have two icons, one on my desktop that strictly says 64-bit, plus there is an IE icon at the bottom of my toolbar that uses 32-bit for some sites (I think because Adobe Flash Player is not compatible with 64-bit OS, is what I was told by an HP tech person). I received a new computer from the Q which I am sure you all know has windows 7 but how do you maximize a screen that was minimized? Just an FYI to anyone thinking of purchasing a laptop, I saw where previously it was stated that Windows 7 programs should work with Windows 8. That's not true with DQS 7.1. I know that I have used IT V with windows 7 for ages, but after a hard-drive crash and new hard-drive it will no longer work. I recently got a new computer that has Windows 8.1. I use Vitera Intergy transcription writer to do my work. I cannot get my transcription writer to work with 8.1 and keep getting a runtime error 4605. Luckily, I still have my old system to work on but I really want to get the new system up and running.
