Windows 7 64-bit OS and DQS 6.1 - yogamom

I have read other posts on this site with respect to this subject but just wondering if anyone using Windows 7 is able to use DQS 6.1 64-bit OS with it. Every machine you purchase comes preloaded with it and I want to buy a new machine but if Windows 7 64-bit doesn't work properly, I won't even bother yet. I heard from support that is unsure right now as they are still working on other things, i.e., problems with 6.1.

I'm going through the exact same thing. I talked to 4 different support people and got different answers. Three said you can't use Windows 7, one said you can use Windows 7 Professional version (most new computers have Premium). The only computer I found that comes with Professional is Acer.

I got the impression that even with the Professional version, it takes some doing to get it to work correctly, you can't just hit the on button and work.

6.1 is not compatible with the 64 bit operating systems. Some versions of Windows are 32, which apparently works. When someone from Support tells you that you can run it on a 64 bit system, ask them to tell you the EXACT procedure, step by step to run it. It involves opening a window in Editor and typing commands. More work than ANY of US should do. They just need to make a version of DQS 6.1 that WORKS with 64 bit systems. Of course, there are plenty of other issues with 6.1 that need ironing out as well.

You can load DQS 6.1 into Windows 7 Pro XP mode and it will run, but it will not recognize the footpedal.

I bought a Windows 7 64-bit and found out later that it was not compatible with DocQScribe. The Q sent me one of their computers so I can now just toggle back and forth. I use theirs for transcribing and my own for personal.

Can maybe someone answer my question. I purchased a new computer last year with the new Windows 7 home premium operating system. For the Internet Explorer, I have two icons, one on my desktop that strictly says 64-bit, plus there is an IE icon at the bottom of my toolbar that uses 32-bit for some sites (I think because Adobe Flash Player is not compatible with 64-bit OS, is what I was told by an HP tech person). I received a new computer from the Q which I am sure you all know has windows 7 but how do you maximize a screen that was minimized? In XP I had always had the teamwork screen minimized and readily seen on the taskbar so all I had to do was click on it and it brought up teamwork ready to be clilicked on to sign me in for my shift after I had a job downloaded but when I minimize the teamwork window in windows 7 it disappears from the screen and I have to click on the icon on the deskt ...

Just an FYI to anyone thinking of purchasing a laptop, I saw where previously it was stated that Windows 7 programs should work with Windows 8. That's not true with DQS 7.1. I recently got a new computer that has Windows 8.1. I use Vitera Intergy transcription writer to do my work. I cannot get my transcription writer to work with 8.1 and keep getting a runtime error 4605. Luckily, I still have my old system to work on but I really want to get the new system up and running.
