Anybody ever had any issues with the physician database being really slow - on EditScript with larger accounts?

Posted: May 09, 2013

I've got a new account that's really laggy typing any names into the database, but even worse, up to a 4- to 5-second delay deleting names via backspace.  I've tried troubleshooting the issue with Tech Support, but no luck there.  Just upgraded my ISP to see if that might be a contributing factor, but no change with that, so the next thing is to upgrade my RAM from 2 GB to 4 GB, I guess.  It's happening during both a regular Alt + I search and also Alt + C search for copies.

I've never had any problems with smaller accounts, and Tech surmises it's related to how huge the database is on this account, which makes sense, but I've also been in contact with some people with comparable computer/internet specs to mine who have no issues at all on the same account.  Just wondering if anyone else has been through similar, and if so, was any eventual solution found?

Suggestions..... - Longtimer

1. Did tech support trying uninstalling EditScript, removing the account folders, reinstalling the program and then logging in on the account? I've had your problem happen to me and others and this corrected it. If they haven't done this, shoot me an e-mail and I can send you instructions or you can ask them to do it. It's an easy process.
2. If that doesn't work and the account is a large one it is known that some accounts have such large databases that it causes this problem when the client updates/adds a lot of info. In these situations Escription tech support can usually zip file that database directly into your folder so that at that point you then grab just the updates.

Thanks. 1. Uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. - sm

2. Interesting. Sounds like that might certainly speed up the log-in process (and this account takes longer than any others I've had for that too), but I'm not sure what effect it would have on simply accessing the database. I'll run that by Tech soon, though, and see what they say.

It's so slow when sending a CC, you could knit - a sweater while it downloads names.

Pffft! And they want us to type HOW many lines per hour? On THAT platform?

Heh - in their DREAMS.

Question About Pulling Physician's Name From The Database Into The Body Of The Report.
Dec 19, 2012

When in EditScript and using the Contacts list to copy a physician name into the body of the report, does anyone else find that sometimes (not always) the cursor locks up for a few seconds and you have to wait before you can move on?  If so, has anyone found a remedy other than just waiting, maybe some key to hit other than the spacebar? ...

Old Reports In Database Make Me Embarrassed To Be An MT

in the report I looked up:  He also had a temperature of 102.  He was given half of a beer, which improved it. Anyone Inquired About This One: "Data Entry Database Compiler - Karen"?
Apr 20, 2010

I saw this one on the Job Seeker board (http://forum.mtstars.com/223201.html) and was wondering if anyone responded to it yet. On some levels, it seems legit...but then on other hand it seems like a scam because it keeps talking about their "database compiler software," and I keep thinking about those companies that'll hire you to work for them but in order for you to make "real money" you'd have to buy their software. I know there's plenty of free compiler software on the net, ...

Resident Physician

I have alway been told when in doubt, leave a blank. Resident did not give attending physician's name. Associated Or Associative Physician

Below is a link to a NY Times editorial.  "The advent of electronic medical records has been a boon to patient safety and physician efficiency in many ways. PSA: Consulting Physician

I admit, this is a huge pet peeve of mine.  The consulting physician is the one who goes to see the patient at the request of the REFERRING physician.  I wish I could get some docs to read this and state the difference.  If I was typing, I could just correct it right away but I have to correct it on the VR.  ...

Just A Message From A Physician

Hello everyone and sorry to intrude. I just wanted to say thank you. I'm a hospitalist physician and I dictate daily. I would say about 10% of my dictations contain a "_______" that needs to be corrected, maybe less...and I am someone who mutters a LOT. So I'm surprised it's not a much higher percentage. And when I hear some of my fellow internationally-born docs dictate, I'm amazed that ANYONE, let alone someone over the phone, would be able to understand what this person i ...

Physician Do Not Dictate List
Mar 15, 2010

Since we have a (lengthy) Do Not Use list, I think the doctors should be versed in proper dictating form with a Do Not Dictate list to include "next", "next number", "new line", "skip line", "and", and "uh, uh, uh" and all those other little irritating words that ASR loves!  Charge them 3 cents MORE per line of dictation if they can't maintain 98% with no blanks sent back to them!!!!!!!! ...

Not Sure What To Do. Afraid Of What A Physician Is Asking Me To Do. Advice
