ARE THERE ANY COMPANIES NUANCE DOESN'T OWN??!! - 7th child

So, I have been looking around seeing what else is out there. First of all, don't you wish you could put a giant WARNING sign across the web sites for on line MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION courses??? Wow, what a joke! They are still calling it a great career! They are still saying you will be in demand and make 30,000 plus a year! I saw some sites from a few years ago where newbies were trying to find jobs and getting discouraged. People were telling them not to worry, they will be fine, etc. The few sites that said they had jobs, all seemed to lead back to Nuance! UGH. How do you find out? I want out. I wish I could just pick up and get out of the house but it's not that easy. For health reasons, and because I have an autistic daughter who I have to get on the bus, I need to be close to home. First they took away our pay, then our dignity, and along with those, our sanity.

Our transcription dept was recently taken over by Nuance and doctors are having a fit - ha ha ha

I don't see how Nuance can expect to bid low, pay people nothing, and expect to get the work done and correctly. The doctors are upset and say it is affecting patient care. Nuance just took over weeks ago and already the work is out of turnaround time and the quality is crap. It's a huge mess. Hospital administration gets what the deserve for making the choice to close the transcription dept and outsource to Nuance. There is no going back, but you'd think at some point the word would get out that hospital after hospital has done this with disastrous results. I've been an MT for over 30 years. It doesn't matter to me anymore, because I'm on my way out. Even if it goes full circle and ultimately transcription comes back (which I doubt), all the good MTs will have moved on to better things. My only regret is that I didn't see the writing on the wall and get out 10 years ago.

Too bad it's affecting patient care, but that's what admin gets - exactly what they deserve for going with cut-rate crap services.

Another big hospital is going to sadly find out the same thing here in about a year when they sell out too, sorry to say.

Cutting out valuable MT service to save money, then they beg in television commercials for money and donations with a "sick kids cant wait" theme. This place has more money than God to keep that fat-as$ CEO in her big expensive house in a local suburb, yet they beg for donations. Nice ethics.

What a crock. Hope that hospital gets what they deserve too. Karma and all that.

The hospital should've closed down the Admin. - Dept., instead of Transcription! (nm)

If you look at the pay grid, N actually pays LESS for having a high QC% than for having a low QA score. How does that make any sense? They would rather having us submitting reports to the client with possible errors than sending things to QC. It's all about the production! ...

I have just about had it with Nuance. Does anyone have any suggestions for other companies? I have a little bit over a year of experience doing acute care. I'm not too fond of Fluency/DoQscribe. The platform itself is nice, but it doesn't seem to be as good at speech recognition as eScription. Fluency is very user friendly, but when I worked at MM it produced horrible drafts on speech recognition. I know that could in part be attributed to multiple MTs using a variety of editing styles, which could cause the platform to not learn, but all I know is it was a struggle getting a good line count with VR on Fluency. My company was acquired by Nuance a few months back and so far the only thing that has changed has been e-mail addresses. Paystubs even still reflect our original company name. Will they keep our proprietary platform or make us change to eScription soon? Also, we're all ICs. Does anyone know if we will be required to become Nuance employees at the first of the year? ...

Rapid Outsourcing Imaging hired me to work the weekend graveyard shift. Their transcription platform does not refresh itself, and there is very little work. What work does come in has an almost immediate TAT, so you are expected to sit in front of your pc for a 10-hour graveyard shift constantly refreshing your screen to check for work. This is a two-sided message. It is painfully obvious that no one is learning anything from having failed audits. This being said, I think there are a few sides to this. First, the error weights are harsh for a lot of small errors. Second, the error weighs are not harsh enough for other errors. Leave a blank and send it on, when you know that blank could have been filled? I'm not passing it on to QA. Just finished a report on a new account..Doc racing through. Cannot understand what she said, so go into docqumanage for similar reports. Obviously people are just cutting and pasting because the name that you have in there for that camera (5 reports) does not exist in medical terminology..But when you slow down and listen to it a few times, what she says is one of the standard lap camera sizes..Dang and I failed an audit for leaving off a letter and adding a word... ...
