Hyphenation - The patient is a right handed or right hand male - MT2

I have had so many responses to this from others. For this sentence: The patient is a right handed or right hand male. Do we hyphenate between right and hand/handed or not? Also, if the sentence reads: The patient is right handed. Do we hyphenate between the two? Thks.

I was taught by my MT instructor to only hyphenate if it a modifier, as in before the noun.

Right-handed male, Yes hyphenate

Male is right handed, No do not hyphenate

Donot use right hand male unless you mean the - male on the right.

You would never use right hand or right-hand male. Doesn't make any sense.
