what happened to the federal tax withholding post? - still waiting on payroll to call me back-nm

to a few people and they said that they were told that when the gross is below a certain amount, they DO NOT withhold taxes. You need to check your paystub every check and if nothing is withheld, fill out a new W4 with a request that a certain amount be withheld EVERY check, even if it is only $10 extra, at least that $10 is withheld.

What's the deal? They didn't hold fed taxes out for you? - nm

and I made about the same gross salary and did not change anything on my W4. I'm wondering if this has to do with the Obama stimulus? Remember we were supposed to get an extra $15 or so per paycheck. Maybe this is how we are going to pay it back to the govt.

Less money was taken out per the Obama plan that was passed in March of 2009, and supposedly it is reduce refunds and give back more per check.

Talk to your tax professional about adding extra money to Federal withholding for this year (on W4 form) to guarantee a refund instead of owing.

This is all you get at the Federal level: "No deduction may be made from an employee's wages which would reduce the employee's earnings below the required minimum wage or overtime compensation." You have to look to see what your state says about it to see if docking pay for mistakes comes under wage theft. Occasionally when I'm doing an ASR report and insert a QA marker the yellow cursor marker will go away and the cursor goes to the end of the report. Then I have to scroll back through the report to find my place and if I lift my foot off the foot pedal it happens again. Does anyone know how to fix this? It's irritating on a really long report.
