I was told we couldn't when it first came out but I mentioned people were doing this to my QA coach and she ignored me so not sure. In any case, with 7.1 you don't have that anymore, it uses bullets.

I was never on 7, just 7.1, but the only numbering allowed is if the client wants numbers in a paragraph format, like (1), (2), etc.
huh? - im lost

What do you mean the only number allowed is in a paragraph?
So you cant do medications in a number list:
MEDICATIONS:
1. xxx
2. xxx
3. xxx
Can you explain?

You don't use numbers, you create a list using Ctrl + Shift + L. It will make a bulleted list that will go to the customer with numbers or letters, which ever way they prefer their lists.
but when you Ctrl Shift L - you dont get paid

I would rather type them out and get the money for it.
Numbering and Back-End Formatting - Careful

The bullets very likely back-end format it the way the client wants it. By us physically typing numbers, it may format totally incorrectly and/or be a big mess on the other end. I wouldn't deviate by physically numbering. Ctrl + shift + L is fast, and you only have to do it once the first time, then it "knows" to bullet the list the next time you hit return.
Hmmm...so you would rather get fired than do it correctly? - anon

I wouldn't be taking my chances on doing my own thing. The program is set up to format at the end the way the client wants it. By numbering your own lists you could be messing it up. I would rather do Ctrl+shift+L and get the report done faster and move onto the next one, rather than fooling with a bunch of numbers. That is a much slower way of making money.
In DQ6 I had my own shortcut for numbering called - "num." I would type that and

automatically got a printed list of numbers 1-15. I had a jump marker at 1 and a jump marker at 15 and just used my down arrow to go to the next line.
I always did it that way with no complaints. Since being in seven I have used it a couple times as well, but if the bulleted list is already there then I just go with that. No one ever said anything to me about it.
why would i get fired? - no on said I had to do it that way

Its not slower, DQS7 messes it all up anyway. Bullets everywhere, nothing lines up.
Doc dictates "omega-3 1000 mg, vitamin B12 1000 mcg, vitamin D3 2000 international units"
My feeling is maybe it should be expanded to "omega-3 one-thousand mg, vitamin B12 one-thousand mcg, and vitamin D3 two-thousand international units," but that feels wrong.
Anyone have any suggestions? ...
Anyone got a solid reference for this?
D: "Exam reveals a sixth nerve palsy."
Does it stay as an unadulterated Roman numeral ("...a VI nerve palsy"), get a superscript "th" (which formatting our system doesn't retain) or does it change to word (as above)?
Thanks! ...
All literature, including internet, seems to use arabic numerals instead of Roman numerals. Cannot identify who originated sleep stage classification to definitively determine which. Anyone out there know? ...
Is there is quick way to add commas between items in a list?
Of course, using Ctl K in front a word will change the punctuation, but it will also change a capitalized drug to lower case, and you will still have to get to the beginning of the next drug which will require 2 Ctl arrows and backspace.
Ctl arrow takes you to the beginning of the next word, but you will have to backspace to put in the comma.
Adding punctuation to lists is so time consuming! ...

If you are filling out a job application and it asks you what your last pay was at your last job, what do you put if Nuance is your last job? How do you write that? Just put 7 cpl? If you put starting pay and then ending pay, isnt that going to look terrible on you? Like they lowered YOUR pay so much as compared to when you started. For you all putting out applications how are you handling that especially when they give no room for explanation on their apps? Thanks ...
I'm having trouble with the format of this psych consult. Under the DIAGNOSIS heading, the dictator lists the Axes as follows:
Axis I: Adjustment disorder with anxiety, moderate in degree.
Then he says, "new paragraph" but continues on with Axis I to say "Psychogenic amnesia."
Then he says, "new paragraph" again and goes on with Axes II thru V. Should I really skip to the next line even though he's still on Axis I or just make it a new sentence and keep it on the same li ...
The list was fun, but what do you think? Should I delete it all to keep the moderators from having to do it? I hope I didn't break too many rules or go too far.
Moderators, please feel free to delete it and I will behave myself in the future. Just had a little too much time on my hands today, which is very rare, and had some fun. ...
