You have to admit, throwing the coding info out there - did halt the BK postings and bashings.

Posted: Mar 10, 2014

It couldn't be coincidental this program was born out of a need to throw a blanket over the negative, could it?

LOL, good point. - anon

Not to mention it starts in just a couple of weeks with less than 1 to take the test just to qualify.

It can't be something they just thought of, so why the short notice on throwing the bone out to everyone?

When are they going to admit that some doctors should not be on ASR?  i just finished a report that ASR got more wrong than right because she was talking so fast!   ...

Sooo, When Is MQ Going To Admit That
May 21, 2010

the problem with DQS disconnecting and slow/no downloading, etc, is actually their problem and not our internet problem???  At least 5 times a night DQS either disconnects me or I have to wait for my jobs to show up, all the while I'm able to connect to the internet.  ...

Hate To Admit It.
Nov 11, 2010

I have been doing transcription for 10 1/2 years. I have started to make less money in the last 2 years.  I use word expanders and try not to spend too much time on one report, but still my production is about the same. My job has requested that our quotas increase to as much as 150 minutes a day. I can tell the MT field is halting. I have to consider going back to school. Now I am wondering what major to take in college. :). Any positive suggestions appreciated. :) ...

I Admit Defeat
Sep 30, 2014

I'm done complaining about bad audio, you do NOTHING to correct it. I am done complaining about this cluster called ASR, it gets worse. I am done complaining about doctors that speak half words, partial words, and at the speed of light. Garbage in Garbage OUT!!! I never make the lists, either good or bad, I just keep plugging along under the radar. ...

Throwing My Hands Up...well Almost
Aug 11, 2011

I have been job hunting since May of this year.  I don't have acute care experience, lots of Radiology and clinic experience.  (11 years).  I have passed tests, I have sent out resumes, I have tried job boards, etc.  I either a) Never hear anything; 2)  Been told, hey you passed with flying colors but we already picked our applicants; 3) Been told they needed me, then did a 180 and said no they didn't but will hold my resume; and 4) Been told my system is too u ...

Throwing My Hands Up In The Air.
Oct 18, 2011

I refuse to test any more!!  I am sick of being directed to the mttest site only to have 4 or more reports waiting to be done that are 5-8 minutes long each!!  Seriously, if they want to see my skills, just let me try and work for them for a while.   I just refuse to test any more.  It is ridiculous considering what they want to pay anyway.  Sigh.  Done venting! ...

Feel Like Throwing In The Towel
Oct 20, 2009

Today I received an E-mail stating that I did not meet production. This is the first time this has happened to me. It just keeps getting harder to make any lines between VR and almost 100% ESL. Sometimes I feel I would be better off working at McDonald's or Walmart the way things keep going.  ...

Throwing Bad Stuff Back!
Jan 27, 2014

It is so frustrating to be working when only a few others are working and having the job#'s progressively increase, but then have a really horrible dictator's file come in that was hundreds of jobs before the rest in your box!  In other words, being thrown back. If you have your client set to show TAT, you can see it in the TAT too!  Like file 1 being at 18:05, file 2 being at 18:05, file 3 being at 18:03, but then file 4 being at 16:55.  If this happened with any of t ...

Hired For Coding/billing/transcription, But Told No Coding
Aug 13, 2013

Accepted a job, gave 2 weeks notice, and yesterday was my first day.  I was to be helping out transcription (1000 jobs behind), and then sitting with billing and training with coding as their coder will be out on maternity leave in December.  The office is adding another surgeon, and they are rapidly expanding.  So I gave a proper 2 weeks' notice to my former employer (2 hours on the road there and back, low salary - now less than half distance and $3 more an hour) and starte ...

Certification In Coding Or AA Degree In Coding??
May 11, 2010

Coding School - Fate Of Coding Due To EMR
Apr 10, 2012

Wondering if there are any coders out there who can give me an idea of the fate of coding due to the EMR. Are there still coding jobs out there? Would it be wise to attend school for coding at this point or do you think it will be lost to the EMR eventually? I live in a rural area and there are advertisements for registered/accredited coders at medical facilities, but I'm afraid of spending all that time and money on schooling only to not be able to find a job. Any information/insight w ...

Do I Need To Take An Actual Coding Course To Learn Coding?
Feb 26, 2014

My sister is taking an online coding course and complains that there is no real "teaching," that she's basically just doing the work in the work book and entering answers online, then taking an online chapter test.  This makes me wonder about the necessity of signing up for an actual course.  I would like to learn how to code, but to me, without any actual instruction, what's the purpose of signing up for one of these online courses? ...

If You Can't Get Course Info Without Leaving Info So They Can Call/spam You
Sep 12, 2012

It isn't easy to get off some of the spam and phone call lists when you click for more information about some of these courses. I've found that for me, it isn't worth it to get that information if I am giving up my privacy. Some of these people are relentless! You can't get away from them once they get your information. There is one in particular that makes sure you hear from them every day in one form or another. They become your best friend, even if you weren't lookin ...

Global Info Systems - Info?
Dec 13, 2012

I am testing with GIS this evening, does anyone have any information on this company. I am currently working with TTS, they do not even pay 4 CPL for editing. MT To Coding
Sep 27, 2010

I've been an MT for going on 8 years now, and I've been throwing around the idea of taking a coding class. I would really like to have something else to fall back on, as it seems that MT'ing is going more and more to VR. There's a local coding class that begins in January for $1700, but I wanted to get some feedback of current coders before signing up. Is the demand for coders still fairly high? Is it hard to find a job as a newbie, even with already having experience in the ...

Is Coding The Way To Go?!
Jan 19, 2011

I have almost 12 years experience as an MT (turn 30 in a month ACK!)  My mom has been telling me for a couple years now (since it started going downhill) that I should maybe think about coding as a career.  I guess she thinks I'd be good at it, but I have no idea.  I have just started my research but I thought I would kind of get some pros and cons about it see if anyone had advice or thoughts on anyone thinking about it.  I always feel like I'm too old to start som ...

What Do You (did You) Like Best About Your Coding Course?
Dec 27, 2011

What was the best thing about the coding course you took? Did it prepare you for the CCS and CPC exams or maybe just the CCA? Did you take any of those exams and did you pass or fail them?  What course did you take? Did you think it was hard or easy? You don't need to answer all of the questions, but maybe a couple of them. Thanks.  ...

I Keep Looking At Coding, Considering It But........
Feb 11, 2012

there's just ONE little thing that keeps me doubting the possibility of it being a long-term career: I keep seeing more and more ads every week for "at home coders".  Does this make you at least a little nervous?  It makes me a LOT nervous.  We all know that once MTs started working from home, the MT field went into a tailspin, pay-wise, because "work-at-home" seems to translate into "work-in-India", instead.  Also I see some ads for MTSOs that also offer coding.  ...

Coding Vs MT, What To Do....
May 10, 2012

I am generally pretty good at making my own decisions; however, I need advice on what to do in this situation. I am currently an MT making $55,000-$60,000 year. The last few years MT work slowed down due to VR/EMR and it was harder and harder to replace lost accounts. While I was looking for another client/MTSO to fill the gap last year, I took a college course for coding and passed the CPC thinking I would have a back-up plan if needed; however, I found more MT work shortly after passing the C ...

How Did You Get Your First Coding Job?
Aug 14, 2012

I passed the CCS and CPC exam 8 months ago but have yet to find a job :(.  I busted my bu** to become a certified coder, and now that I am one, no one will hire me without experience.  I live in a small town.  We have one hospital.  I applied and was flat out told they cannot hire coders without minimum 2 years experience.  I asked if I could volunteer or job shadow and they said no.  No jobs there in HIM at all.  Our local medical clinic has a coding company t ...
