Turned down again - sick and tired

Applied for in-house office clerk job. Recruiter said I looked great and she would send the application to the department head. Never heard. Checked the online status. Message the next day after meeting with recruiter said "thanks but no thanks, you are not being considered for this position." So she lied I presume? I guess the next thing to try is cashier for the Dollar store. I feel so low. What do people think we are doing all these years in transcription that does not equip us for a clerk job? Every interview is getting harder instead of easier. Guess I will be with MQ until the fat lady sings.

Why recruiter lied? Dept head nixed you, not recruiter. - Recruiter cant make dept head hire you. nm

head ever got to judge it. I don't believe it was submitted, probably because I have not been working in a "real" office and have just been lounging here at home.

With the hospital I used to work for, they had - to post jobs

according to their policy, but there were a lot of times the jobs were already filled with someone else. They were still required to post even though they knew who they were hiring before even posting.

clothes, do my hair and nails, and stress out over these interviews. To me it is a big deal, not just a motion to go through.

They may have considered you to be over qualified for a clerk's job. They may have decided to fill the position with an internal candidate, they generally get first pick of the jobs, I've had a couple of interviews where that has happened. I agree with the person who said that the hospital has to post the job and go through the interview process, even though they may already have someone in mind. Hang in there and keep trying, hopefully before you have to resort to working in fast food.

I feel the same as you. I interviewed at a local hospital for a transcription job (working from home) and even went as far as the peer interview but got turned down. I have no idea why but it was humiliating. I don't even know what I'm qualified to do anymore! I've been doing transcription since 1974!

I've been MT-ing since 1974. I actually got told at - 1 interview I didnt have enough experience!

...if all you've done the entire time is clinic/office notes or a singular specialty. If you've not developed skills in acute care and a variey of specialties, you could very well not have enough "experience" to suit their needs.

Oh no, I've worked in acute care hospitals, a family medicine clinic, a urology clinic and also worked IC for several specialty clinic when I had a home-based job before coming to Q as tier 3. Also a rehab hospital.

Just wondering what those of you who have chosen to leave the MT field entirely and go into some other business have found to do when you've been doing MT for 30 years? I have been turned down by 3 different MT companies stating it is because of California's laws creating problems. Anyone else having this problem? Is there a way around it?
