So how can someone do their job when their is power outages and you have lost your internet? sm - nowwhat

I realize that any job it is necessary for one to be at their "station" when scheduled, but what happens when you have power outages and your internet has been disconnected? It is hard to make up time also when there is DQS downage. Crackdown on the weekend turnarounds. MQ needs to take in consideration the situations that are beyond control and also the CCMs are being held to task over this. I, for one, am totally respectful and care very much about our CCM.

Not their fault if your power goes out. Use PT time, live without the pay or get a generator. Not sure what else to tell you.

We live in a very rural area, so rural we can't pick up cell phone signals until we get to town (about 20 miles away). Our Internet connection has been off and on for the past 3 weeks because of old wiring in the line, power outages, etc., just like you. Like the previous poster said, it's a pain for us but MQ has no power over our situations here at home. We either have to work the extra hours within the week, take paid leave or do without the pay. It's just the nature of the beast. I think our service provider is so tired of receiving my husband's phone calls that they are planning to extend fiber-optics out on this side of the county much faster than planned! I realize our CCMs are only doing what is being told to them to do, but one cannot possibly do their job when it is power outages beyond our control. AND WE DON'T MAKE ENOUGH MONEY TO AFFORD A GENERATOR> What an insensitive remark to make. PT people really don't have that much PTO, and quite frankly I used mine a long time ago because of NJA> I was just remarking, and NO I AM NOT upset with our CCM, she is great... I also am a mtn gal. I was not sure what you were asking. I am not insensitive by any means. I was offering suggestions to a question I thought you were asking, "What are we supposed to do?" Perhaps if you have a friend or relative in an area where there is power or they have a generator, maybe you could arrange to go there and do some work. Sorry if you took it the wrong way. We are not wealthy by any means, but where I live a generator is a necessity. We lose power quite frequently.

I'm just a country gal.

The internet is a dangerous place and this goes a bit too far but it is illustrative of how the danger is being recognized. I think it is just a matter of time before medical records will no longer be processed over the internet. Once that happens, perhaps our jobs will come back. ...

In the middle of a report. Tripped a breaker or something. Got the power back on, got the PC up and running again...and it won't let me log in to DQS. Apparently somebody just had a "power outage." Was a letter with the doctor dictating 90 miles an hour the name of who the letter was supposed to go to and the carbon copies. I would like to have thrown it back also, but after a lot of tediousness, I did complete it WITH NO BLANKS. so for 1 hour we are going to get work from another POD that is way behind.....well guess what, if I had stayed in my own POD which is also flooded with work, I would have accomplished over 400 lines, but in this "power hour" I typed a total of 95 lines because I spent all my time reading over client profiles and looking up old jobs making sure I got everything right. CCM notes the Western power outage yesterday (approximately 5 hours) is not covered by paid down time. However, East Coast outage later in the day was a system problem and would be covered by down time. HUH ? So for power outages we either make up time or use PTO. After 14 years of transcribing for a medical practice, suddenly, without notice, I was "dumped." My client implimented the required EHR mandated by President Obama. I guess I was somewhat naive in not seeing this coming, but I assumed transcribed documents by a "real person" would still be wanted by my client. Now I find myself at age 57 without work.
