Crazy, power hungry, power tripping - lying sack of flaming

cow patty snorting, dense MMEs. O.M.G. Can't believe the STUPID feedback some of them give.
End of rant
Crazy, stupid, incompetent, good for nothing, - lazy, illiterate

dim-witted MTs. O.M.G. Can't believe the STUPID things they do.
I'm guessing this didn't make you feel good. Please don't generalize. We are all in the same boat and this can be hurtful to those who are trying very hard to "not be that guy."
End of Rant - We need that
[ In Reply To ..]
I am finding that most of the posts here are not only negative, but actually nasty. You can hardly say anything, even in a rant and aren't called on it. My feeling after months of watching this and sounding off myself at times, we all need a place to "vent." Most of the MTs in today's market are so frustrated and unhappy with the working conditions, they need to spill it out. I do feel that we the MTs have allowed a lot of this to happen, by not standing up and getting out of transcription or at least away from these horrible companies, which the consensus seems to be MM and Nuance, with Keystrokes and Landmark and some others not far behind. Again, we are the ones with the power here; who will do their dirty work, if not us? I was fortunate enough to get out, but believe me it wasn't easy, but I just could not do it any longer; I just quit one day and never looked back. End of my rant!
I took that post as a rant too. No offense taken. - an MT too

I too get agitated about some of the MME's changes, i.e., I didn't hear what you added, or there is no way you heard that and believe you copied from another report by that dictator, or why the heck did you fill in that blank I left because it affects patient care and I left a QA note (audio cut out, likely misspoken, unbelievable lab value, i.e., stated hemoglobin but dictated 45). I also get agitated when I see apparent lack of editing when I look up previous reports for a patient or dictator.
MME - Job Security
[ In Reply To ..]
They need to justify their existence, so the powers that be can see they are doing their job diligently; same with TSM. The problem is, instead of helping us, they demean us, we can't win either way. Challenge, waste of time, try harder, waste of time, do everything they ask and it still isn't enough. No wonder we rant!
sweeping generalization - an MME
[ In Reply To ..]
I kind of resent this. I do try to help the MTs. I have never tried to demean one. I also don't think I need to justify my existence. I think you are thinking of someone else.

I think there are some phenominal MMEs, but unfortunately there are very few of these excellent individuals in comparison to the horrific ones that just decided to become MME's for more job security. I can understand anyone wanting job security, but they do a horrible job, ruin the MTs reports by being careless and generally are unable to fill in the blanks. Before I make any note of what the MME says, I look up their name to make sure they are in the competent group.

Face it, this company brings out the worst in everyone. Whether you start off with the best of intentions, they will pressure you to do more. Why has this become such a nightmare of a job? The MTSOs can be thanked for that 110%. They are money hungry, and don't care who they trample underfoot to get theirs. Why is the VR so horrible, why do they continue to send to India when the work is sub par and we HAVE to dance to their tune? I don't care what anyone says, good MMEs, bad MMEs, or whatever, this company has reduced this job to a cock fight! May the best one win and even if they do win, they are slaughtered. Just ask old employees who have worked for this horrible place! I cannot stress enough how much I hate this company and all that it stands for and I am only sorry there are still so many MTs/MMEs working for them. I got out a long time ago and only wish they go down the drain, so ladies/gents, put on your best and find another place of employment! It is out there!
I completely agree with what you have stated and feel - Cathy

the same way. When you stand back and look at the evolution of this horror story, it is simply abuse. Reminds me of racing horses. The horse is qualified to be in the race but is pushed and pushed and whipped and whipped. This is the place where expectation becomes physically and mentally abusive.
How does an MME "ruin" a report? - We fill in the blank or not
[ In Reply To ..]
We don't 100% proof 99% of reports. Even if you ask us to 100% proof a report, we don't (not allowed to).
So I listen and try to fill in the blank and that is it. Sometimes I don't fill in the blank, that should make you feel good that you were justified in leaving a blank in the first place. It certainly shouldn't make you angry, you couldn't fill in the blank either.
Ranting - My perspective

There is nothing wrong with venting or ranting. However, as language specialists most of us ought to be able to choose our words a little more carefully. Calling people ignorant, stupid, lazy, etc. is probably not really necessary, many people might think the same thing of you. Also, racial stereotypes such as one I read elsewhere are offensive (it did not apply to me, but I still found it offensive. The companies that you name as horrible, other people may love. Badmouthing one's employer publicly has never been a good idea. The old AAMT chapter meetings come to mind. The circumstances were different, but maybe those of you in the larger cities could form a support group where you could meet somewhere publicly and talk face to face. My opinion is that being at home day in, day out messes with people's heads, I've never had to do it for any length of time but hated it. Don't worry about someone doing their "dirty work." People are lined up trying to find jobs. That is my rant.
I feel like I don't even work at the same company - that these daily rants are directed at

I get left alone to do my job. I have never gotten a nasty MME note. I rarely run out of work (X-mas day and New Years day, had a full shift every day since). Of course I don't really mind having a dozen different accounts, the account specs are so similar and it takes 2 seconds to note the differences.
However, I came from Nuance, they kinda make everyone look better.
Ditto that. No complaints aside from the pay. - Wonder if we are in the same BOB?

I am in the North, and I love my TSM (AS) and the one before that (LK) was great too.
As for MME feedback, I have never had a nasty note, have never been nitpicked, and last week I even got a 'Thank you!' even though I had not followed a CC rule correctly.
:)
PS I also was at Nuance for a time.
Oh c'mon...tell us how you really feel! - Trampled underfoot
[ In Reply To ..]
I'm glad you said "the stupid feedback SOME of them give". They're just like us, some are good, some not so good and some are tempted to use their ability to give feedback to vent a little on their end.
I had no idea you felt this way - does this mean goodbye?

I didn't know MMEs were so unwelcome here.
One of the things I have repeatedly written and warned about when it comes to outsourcing is the uncertain infrastructure that many foreign countries have - and I'm not just talking about their electrical grids.
Foreign countries introduce huge elements of uncertainty (read, RISK) when it comes to their physical infrastructure, but also their social, governmental and legal infrastructures. And when it comes to something as CRITICAL as American healthcare records (which, may I remind ...
We need an MT/ME Bill of Rights. We should have some input in this company, since without us, it wouldn't exist. We should:
Ding the dingers: QA/MME should be dinged for each blank They leave, each incorrect correction, and each inconsistent ding for "personal preference" corrections and punctuation.
Ding CCM: For not responding to us within 24 hours of initial contact. For giving incorrect backlog information, asking for extra help, when, in f ...
In the middle of a report. Tripped a breaker or something. Got the power back on, got the PC up and running again...and it won't let me log in to DQS. Says somebody's already logged in (that would be me!) and I can't log in till they log out. In other words, till it times out from inactivity and throws that job back into the queue. This has never happened to me before! ...
I just received an email from my company directing me to this Power of 10 link by AHDI asking for all MTs to donate 10.00.
Has anyone donated or do you plan on doing so? ...
Apparently somebody just had a "power outage." Was a letter with the doctor dictating 90 miles an hour the name of who the letter was supposed to go to and the carbon copies. I would like to have thrown it back also, but after a lot of tediousness, I did complete it WITH NO BLANKS. I might not have known, but they had put something at the top of the report that was still there. ...
How do you deal with power outages? Does anyone utilize a generator with your computer and internet if the power goes out? What does your company say about power outages? Thanks, we lose power a lot and I wonder if a computer and my modem will work with a generator as backup. ...
Not sure if anyone has posted about this or even if this is the proper place to post this but I read about it this a.m. Hmmm...I wonder if they can "handle the truth" transcription??

so for 1 hour we are going to get work from another POD that is way behind.....well guess what, if I had stayed in my own POD which is also flooded with work, I would have accomplished over 400 lines, but in this "power hour" I typed a total of 95 lines because I spent all my time reading over client profiles and looking up old jobs making sure I got everything right. The hour is up, and strange jobs are coming in so I signed out for a break. Yeah...this power hour works really well. ...
Is anyone else in the same boat as me, I have been without power now for a full total of 6 days. 4 straight days, then off and on. Then Christmas Day and day after Christmas. How to make this up I don't know.... Impossible. Anyway I do the best I can and keep on plugging even in the face of adversity. I had bad dreams last night I was constantly running from the mafia hit bosses who had my name and my family on a hit list. Not a pleasant d ...
I have been with Q a long time, but have never really been given a straight answer on weather situations knocking off your power (sometimes ultimately leading to the demise of refurbished, after refurbished MQ computers). Are we penalized for this? ...
I realize that any job it is necessary for one to be at their "station" when scheduled, but what happens when you have power outages and your internet has been disconnected? It is hard to make up time also when there is DQS downage. Crackdown on the weekend turnarounds. MQ needs to take in consideration the situations that are beyond control and also the CCMs are being held to task over this. I, for one, am totally respectful and care very much about our CCM. ...
CCM notes the Western power outage yesterday (approximately 5 hours) is not covered by paid down time. However, East Coast outage later in the day was a system problem and would be covered by down time. HUH ? So for power outages we either make up time or use PTO. Can this possibly be legal ?????? ...
Woke up to my computer dead (2.5 years old).....shut it down last night, no problems. Did not notice if the blinking light(of the power button) was on or not last night when I went to bed. In any case it was off this morning which is not the norm. DOA. Tried the obvious, unplugged, replugged in different outlet, etc. Nada. Have another old Dell here (has hard drive issues not power supply) thought maybe I could switch out the power supplies, don ...
I've worked for Softscript for almost 6 years and annually I have the same problem w/ management on a power-trip! Currently, the issue is that they have taken accounts away that I've worked on for 5 years, and want to replace them w/ accounts I have no experience in (work type), heavy ESL, lightning fast dictators. I informed them that I was not comfortable w/ this, and they give me a corrective action for insubordination! DO NOT APPLY TO WORK FOR SOFTSCRIPT! Th ...
The internet is a dangerous place and this goes a bit too far but it is illustrative of how the danger is being recognized. I think it is just a matter of time before medical records will no longer be processed over the internet. Once that happens, perhaps our jobs will come back. ...
Have tried Power Scribe several times in the past 4 years. I am curious why and how anyone can stand not being able to use their foot pedal and keyboard in the normal way. Case in point is if the dictation is not clear, you cannot back up a few words. Instead, you have to go all the way to the beginning again. Need some insight here.

The new costs of credentials through AHDI. Cost for RMT ranges from $100 to $230. Cost for CMT ranges between $150 to $280...but here's the kicker. Starting January 1st, the RMT credential will become a required prerequisite for access to the CMT.
Isn't this just grand? Our line rates have almost been cut in half in the last 20 years and now they want to charge even MORE? How has AHDI fought for our wages or done anything for our profession other than lin ...
My boss has offered me a 3rd shift position working 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. I work days now 10 a.m to 6 p.m. This 3rd position appeals to me because there would be no interruptions and hopefully my production would get even better. I could be up in the morning around 10-11 am and have the rest of the day to run errands, grocery shop or just do some baking which sounds wonderful. I am usually a day person, but this sounds intriguing. I realize the first couple of weeks would ...
