HA! HA! I was just going to post about this. Guess a lot of transcription not to mention many other companies are going to have second thoughts about how wonderful it is hire worker over there. You get what you pay for!
Too bad we can't all "walk out" today - anon

Show them a little pic of the future without us.
Ooooh, that would be rich! - s/m

It's too bad that so many probably will want to take advantage of having work to meet their production quotas while they can. It would be soooo sweet to see what would happen if the big two had no one on deck to transcribe or edit their work. Yeah...see how well the business runs without the ones who REALLY do the work (but don't get compensated for it)!
This could be a rare opportunity... - Anon

....to show how much the MTs are really worth!!
Gee, sorry I can't work over time today. - anon

Not a chance am I working OT today.

So what, I can make $30 whole dollars by cleaning up your mess. Yeah, I don't think so.
Doubt it. The MTSOs don't care. - IAMT

Been there and done that overextending myself with hours that are not scheduled to "help out." You can tell me how much you appreciate that extra I did until the cows come home but can't take that to the bank. If you help out and cover this work due to this India situation, they will not even remember you did step up in 24 hours once the India situation is resolved.
Have you ever seen photos of their phone/electrical - systems in cities? Little wonder.
[ In Reply To ..]
They look like rats' nests and/or spider webs. I don't know how anyone there even manages to place a phone call, let alone run a business on that mess.

Blackout in India, eh? That must be why Acusis - suddenly seems to have enough work.

Ugh, those poor people! - (see message)

Just looked at weather.com and saw that the temp in New Delhi is 81 degrees with 94% humidity, and people are waiting around on the train tracks because some train service is out. I've seen video of people cramming onto those trains in India, and it's pretty awful even on days when the trains are running right!

I empathize for them as human beings, but I still - dont want them to take our work away. nm

I know.... - (see message)

Right....I don't want them to take our work away, either. Just saying it must be a MESS over there with all those people and no power to so much of the country, and how miserable they must be on top of it.

I'm sure none of us would wish some of their conditions on our worst enemies. I hope more and more companies of all kinds are finding that it's worth paying more to have their work done here where the quality is often better and the infrastructure more reliable....at least for the most part.
This same thing happened - right here in USA only
[ In Reply To ..]
a few weeks ago, big power outage due to storms, millions without power for over a week in sweltering weather. Bottom line: I don't think this is going to make Nuance, Mmodal or any place else say "wow, that India sure is a mess, let's bring back all our work from there.
Hmmm, good point. - (see message)
[ In Reply To ..]
Maybe it just feels like we have more control when a power outage happens here in the U.S. since we're closer and are more familiar with how "the system" works; but, you're right....no guarantees that these infrastructure failures won't happen right here, too. That's another reason why those things should be given more attention and funding than they sometimes get. (You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone.)
Good comparison, NOT! - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
Yes we did have power outages but pretty sure it wasn't 60% of the country.

While our infrastructure could use a little TLC, India's is a nightmare. Read the story, there is so much gov't and private corruption over there that nothing gets done.
Whenever the power goes out at my house, I rejoice - in a few hours of free time to myself, s/m

Power outage - mt1347
[ In Reply To ..]
It is a mess over there and it's all of their own making. They need to sterilize at least half the adults so they can get their population under control. Their doctors need to stay there instead of coming here and to Europe to make the big bucks. If they had any kind of conscience, they would be home taking care of their countrymen. India is an open sewer and it has been for decades; they are doing nothing to help themselves.

So How Can Someone Do Their Job When Their Is Power Outages And You Have Lost Your Internet? Sm
Apr 12, 2011

I realize that any job it is necessary for one to be at their "station" when scheduled, but what happens when you have power outages and your internet has been disconnected?  It is hard to make up time also when there is DQS downage.  Crackdown on the weekend turnarounds.  MQ needs to take in consideration the situations that are beyond control and also the CCMs are being held to task over this.  I, for one, am totally respectful and care very much about our CCM.   ...

INDIA'S POWER GRID COLLAPSES - 680 MILLION LOSE POWER
Jul 31, 2012

One of the things I have repeatedly written and warned about when it comes to outsourcing is the uncertain infrastructure that many foreign countries have - and I'm not just talking about their electrical grids. Foreign countries introduce huge elements of uncertainty (read, RISK) when it comes to their physical infrastructure, but also their social, governmental and legal infrastructures.  And when it comes to something as CRITICAL as American healthcare records (which, may I remind ...

MT Power
Jan 28, 2010

We need an MT/ME Bill of Rights.  We should have some input in this company, since without us, it wouldn't exist.  We should: Ding the dingers:  QA/MME should be dinged for each blank They leave, each incorrect correction, and each inconsistent ding for "personal preference" corrections and punctuation. Ding CCM:  For not responding to us within 24 hours of initial contact.  For giving incorrect backlog information, asking for extra help, when, in f ...

So My Power Goes Out, Right?
Feb 24, 2013

In the middle of a report.  Tripped a breaker or something.  Got the power back on, got the PC up and running again...and it won't let me log in to DQS.  Says somebody's already logged in (that would be me!) and I can't log in till they log out.  In other words, till it times out from inactivity and throws that job back into the queue.  This has never happened to me before! ...

Power Outage
Nov 19, 2010

Apparently somebody just had a "power outage."  Was a letter with the doctor dictating 90 miles an hour the name of who the letter was supposed to go to and the carbon copies.  I would like to have thrown it back also, but after a lot of tediousness, I did complete it WITH NO BLANKS.  I might not have known, but they had put something at the top of the report that was still there.  ...

Just Experienced The Power Hour
Dec 19, 2014

so for 1 hour we are going to get work from another POD that is way behind.....well guess what, if I had stayed in my own POD which is also flooded with work, I would have accomplished over 400 lines, but in this "power hour"  I typed a total of 95 lines because I spent all my time reading over client profiles and looking up old jobs making sure I got everything right. The hour is up, and strange jobs are coming in so I signed out for a break. Yeah...this power hour works really well. ...

Power Outage Out West - No Pay For Down Time !

Softscript---power Trip, Doesn't Care About Quality
May 02, 2011

I've worked for Softscript for almost 6 years and annually I have the same problem w/ management on a power-trip!  Currently, the issue is that they have taken accounts away that I've worked on for 5 years, and want to replace them w/ accounts I have no experience in (work type), heavy ESL, lightning fast dictators.  I informed them that I was not comfortable w/ this, and they give me a corrective action for insubordination!  DO NOT APPLY TO WORK FOR SOFTSCRIPT!  Th ...

Voice Recognition - Power Scribe Several Times In The Past 4 Years

ESL And India
