Keystrokes and MModal - Curious mind
Posted: Dec 08, 2010I was just wondering how others feel about the "MModal" Keystrokes has been using on some accounts.
Are you sure? I thought Webmedx uses M Modal. - Webber

I think that it is only used at Webmedx, but I could be wrong. I hated it at first but love it now. It did take me a few weeks though.
MANY companies use M*Modal. It's a leased software. - nm

I use MModal at a different company and it's horrible. If you use it with Scribe you get no medical spellchecker and the templates are horrible to work with. Very difficult to make money using that platform. But that's just my opinion.
I hate M*Modal - MTz

I do a lot of toggling between panes and spend more time toggling than I do editing. I used DocQScribe for years and this has been a very hard transition for me. The spellchecker (compared to DQS and my Stedman's spellchecker) stinks.
I haven't been able to buy an expander yet and there isn't one built into the platform.
The thing I dislike the most is the typing screen is a half screen and very difficult on the eyes but can be adjusted. In order to see the panes on the other side of the screen, however, you have to keep the typing screen reduced.
Combine this platform with bad accounts and dictators and one gets a very disappointing result financially.
Isn't M*Modal a speech recognition engine and the - screen you are on part of the platform

you work on? At my company I work on the Enterprise platform correcting SR text provided by M*Modal. Both work just fine. Unlike Webber I never hated it, although I did tear my hair over the hundreds of expander macros I had to redo, but now, like Webber, it's fine.
MTz, you "haven't been able to buy an expander?" How on earth do you make a living without one? You must be a killer typist! In any case, the good news is you probably don't want an expander built into the platform anyway. You want your own that belongs to you and stays with you wherever you go. Ones built in tend to be at least somewhat idiosyncratic, and even if you store your abbreviations on your own computer they may not always transfer well to a new job...or at all. And you really do want to be able to walk any time you want to--no leashes around your throat holding you back.

Headers must be chosen as well as macros. Does anyone know if we are paid for that? After all, it does take time to choose.
Yes your line rate is pay for everything involved in doing - your job. Nobody gets paid

a bonus for opening programs, formatting headers, or even hitting the send key.
MModal-I wholeheartedly disagree - Skeptical
[ In Reply To ..]
Someone just asked a reasonable question and did not merit such a sucastic repaly reply "Nobody get paid etc, "
However, I respectfully disagree. Every time your fingers leave the keyborad to choose and/or enter something, that is time lost to typing. Having to leave the keyboard to choose, for example, Chief Complaint is a loss of characters from continuity as well as loss of characters from typing.
Keystrokes should have an education session with their employees--they should not have to obtain their information on this board and get sarcastic answers. Most people do understand the necessity of VR but are concerned about their paychecks and/or benefits.
You disagree. Are all your non-text keystrokes then charitable - donations to your employer? How long
[ In Reply To ..]
have you been this incredibly...generous? Or do you submit a bill for reimbursement each pay period?
For people determined to be unhappy and see themselves as victimized, this sort of specious thinking is invaluable. For those who won't accept victimization, the simple truth of this matter will be greatly reassuring. We may not always feel we're properly paid for the work we do, but we are paid for it.

I am not liking M*Modal much. In the beginning phases of learning it still but have a "difficult" doctor who overuses punctuation so I spend more time changing that aspect of the reports. I could straight type faster than I can edit at this point.
JustMe, me too for problem reports, but this is not - Skilled Editor
[ In Reply To ..]
a specifically MM problem. It's editing, which requires new keyboarding skills so that we can do it faster than typing from scratch, on average at least. Some reports are, of course, just total crash sites. Does your company offer assistance with learning new editing techniques? VRTrainer has given some excellent tips here, and I'm currently trying to implement some of the techniques she recommends. Good luck.
Question - Why is VR a "necessity?" - justcurious
[ In Reply To ..]
Dictators have to dictate whether the software receiving the dictation makes a miserable attempt to translate it or not, so it doesn't change anything for them.
When one-third to one-half of the reports basically take as long (or longer) to edit than they would to type, that certainly isn't going to improve TAT to any "significant" degree.
And the clients aren't seeing any real savings in terms of expense since from what I can see the majority of the money being taken out of our pockets to make it happen is going to the MTSO not the client.
So, if VR is a necessity, just who is it necessary for?
VR was sort of like the Model T in the beginning, - now it is an Edsel, eventually it will
[ In Reply To ..]
be a Camry, and better. Inevitably. Computers "type" close to the speed of light. We type 100 WPM--when we're very good. This change IS inevitable, the period of development and implementation the necessity, and all the wishful thinking in the world won't turn it all around.
Keystrokes and MModal - just my two cents
[ In Reply To ..]
I am new at M Modal with KS too. I am very unhappy that there has been NO communication about how the pay structure is changing by implementing this program. NOTHING! We have been told we have to learn it and all doctors have to be on board, but we have not HEARD the first word about how this affects our line counts or our bottom line. Where is the communication? Maybe keeping silent this time cutting our pay as the last proposal to cut $$$ received so much flack on this board. Very very disappointed in how this has been handled. Just my two cents.
