Panel Discussion - Remarkable

I watched the panel discussion hosted by Career Step. I found 2 questions along with the answers which Shaw (MM)and Heather (Nuance) provided very interesting, and I am sure anyone who views this discussion, will find their answers to these questions remarkable also. At about the 45 mark the question is "I am hearing a lot about how valuable MTs are, why is there a continuing drop in pay for such value? The other question at about the 54 mark was referring to increased rates in retirement. What is causing that? Is it due to the shift to a technology laden job or shift in pay? Very interesting answers Heather and Shaw give.

Truth is nobody wants to answer the question informing students that it is the two men present who are hoarding all the profits and running sweat shops. In response to the man who said "It's because the health care facilities are facing price-pressures" and he goes on to say that "as the position moves into one called 'Clinical Document Specialist' we need to hold value to that process". Huh? Why are you NOT holding value to that process with your "Medical Language Specialists" now, bucko??? Damn liar. Bullying a profession is one thing but when one is too cowardly to own up to what they have done, that's about all I can listen to.

I listened to most of it, started looking for my boots because the BS was getting so deep. Too bad they did not show the reaction on the faces of the ladies listening to the discussion.

Sometimes I'm not sure what to do when they say "post" ... something. I know if it is postauricular (for example), it is attached ... but how about post aneurysmal surgery? It does not seem like it would be attached. - Is it proper to leave it stand-alone or should I change it to status post ... or actually attach it? Thanks in advance!! ...

I thought this was a really cute and interesting way to raise money for breast cancer awareness. Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon made this video to help raise funds and it looks like they had such a fun time doing it. Just to try to help any exasperated MTs out that are hesitant to leave the house for the work field. My stepson has a REAL at-home job and he loves it. He works for a company called New Corp, you can Google that. He works a real 40-hour per week schedule, although you can opt for part-time if you need to supplement MT income. If we are SO important to the care and safety of patients, then why has my pay been cut more than 50%--4 years ago it was 40% and then when bought by Nuance, it was cut again--not sure of the %. When speech started, does anyone think when our pay was cut that these companies starting billling the clients less for the same work?
