Can anyone tell me if a PT employee gets any berevement time?

When my dad went into the hospital and ultimately died a week later on hospice, I had emailed my boss several times with no response at all. I ended up just taking a little over a month off after sending her an email to that effect, still did not get a response. I just punched in and started working.

Sorry for your loss. I had a loss this year also and did not get any berevement time. I had to make up my hours.

My dad died in 2008, no time off. My mom died in 2011, again no time off. Sad but true

2 months. They paid me my vacation time until it ran out and then allowed me to take a leave with no pay. I just started back to work a month ago. They were very kind about it.

bereavement time, which in my opinion is ridiculous. I guess you were supposed to be thankful that you had your job still, but most companies in other fields (not MT) will give you 3-5 days paid (depending on whether the funeral is located out of state or not), and that does not come out of your PTO, whether or not you work PT or FT, at least, that is my experience.

Sure they were kind. They are always kind when it doesnt - cost them money. nm

It has been inconvenient, and maybe a bit confusing at times, to check my time card hours for my shift as, because of my time zone, part of my hours show up on the next day because I work 2nd shift. Does anyone care to share that if you are hired at optiscript part time will they let you change to full time easily? I know they are a small company and do not over hire so I do not know how easily this could be done.
