Does anyone have any experience with Medquist in Columbus OH? The hospital where I work is planning on using Medquist as their transcription service and having us become Medquist employees. Anyone know what their wages are? I see a lot of terribly negative info on them on the internet and I am not happy about this change. The most of us have well over twenty years experience and am wondering how we would rate on their system? Any info would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

I promise you that you will be disappointed with MedQuist. It can in no way compare to the in-house job you have now. Come on over to the Medquist board and check out some of the posts. Those of us "experienced" transcriptionists with many years of experience are suffering right now. Pay is going DOWN! JMHO

Do some research on the many lawsuits in which MQ has been involved, especially the transcriptionists' lawsuit of several years ago. Do not under any circumstances work for these people. I would clean toilets at the Hilton before I would work for MQ again. Get out NOW. Good luck to you.

SHAME ON YOUR HOSPITAL!!! I really think after working for MTSO's i.e., Medquist, et al, that the name of the game is money and not patient care. It is all about saving money for the hospital off your labor. Do you think they would be using Medquist if you were going to be paid the same for your expertise? No way. Hospitals are board driven and the trough slurpers are looking to ways to line their own pockets. The line rate is somewhere between 7-8 cents, and if you are fortunate enough to be able to stay with your hospital account, good luck. You just could be thrown into a pool of hundreds of doctors from different facilities and be judged on how well you can transcribe broken English and meet "line requirements." You have my sympathy. If you want to stay in the business, get your experience with how the system works by going with MQ and then look elsewhere.

This doesn't have to do with "Medquist in Columbus." You'd be working for Medquist, period. It's just a big conglomerate smished into regions around the country, and no one region is better than the other to work for, and you'll just "go" where they want you to be. Just wanted to make that part clear. You don't get to decide what hospitals you'll be working for.

I just got hired by MedQuist, and I'm feeling very discouraged about these negative posts about them.

But of course, right now, I'm happy to take any job at all because I got laid off from my last job. For me, any work is good work, and I can use the experience. I'm so grateful to get hired.

Hopefully its not as bad as everyone makes it sound.

Don't take anyone's word for it. DO A BACKGROUND CHECK ON MEDQUIST, especially the transcriptionists' lawsuit. Don't take the job. You can do better. Trust me on this.

Do Not Waste Your Time! I would recommend contacting Transcend. I know several have poo-poo'ed Transcend, but I have been with them over a year with MDI management staff still intact, and with the make-profit-at-the-expense-of-labor/customers environment out there in all areas of service/manufacturing, you are not going to find anything better. Please, do your self a favor and do not waste blood, sweat and tears on MedQuist.

I have taken the tests, had a phone interview, and the person from the phone interview said my next step was to fill out an application on line.
