MModal and insurance - noname

Posted: Apr 29, 2012

I'm on single insurance and up until now have never used up the $500- definity HRA yearly amount.  I just got some mildly abnormal blood counts, and my Dr is requesting some expensive tests.  Do you think if MModal suspects you might be developing an expensive medical condition they might terminate you?  Does anyone who requires more than routine medial care still work for them?  Nothing they do would surprise me, and all it takes are failed audits to get rid of you.  I'm tempted not to have any tests done.  Any opinions.

Have the tests done. If you are valued MT, nothing will happen. - nm

how do you know if you are valued or not - curious

I dont feel valued, and no one has ever told me I am valued. Do I have to come out and ask?

I KNOW I'm not valued! But I double-dare anyone to - fire me for a medical condition! N/m

I'd have the tests - LeavingMT

They CANNOT find out what you are having done and wrongful termination would be pretty easy to prove I would think if they did.

IMO, all MModal MTs are likely wrongfully terminated. - noname

They can do what they want with you. Especially via those audits. If they want you, they make sure you pass. If they don't, you don't. I may wait to see how PO'd my doc gets if I don't have it done by my next visit in 2 weeks.

It sure stinks how this company makes a lot of us - Kiki

feel afraid to have (possibly) necessary tests for fear of getting the boot. Makes me sick actually.

However, I think you should talk to your doctor about your concerns. Maybe there is an alternative? I don't think you should neglect your health.

I don't think the way the insurance works that MModal would end up paying that much for you anyway. You'd prob be the one paying the lion's share of those expensive tests, so that might be your concern rather than whether they may try to get rid of you. And like the other poster said, you could likely prove they fired you for that reason.....just saying.......

medical bills - mt

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't think your medical bills would have any effect at all on MModal but maybe I don't understand how the system works.

I have to use the insurance a lot due to lupus and - mtms

sjogren's and they don't do anything. I use up my deductible every year so don't worry. If they have a problem with the insurance, they just change the benefits on it. It started out really good at $500 deductible and great copays, and 10% was our part, then it has gone up every year since then.

For God's sake take care of your health and - sm

stop worrying about MModal...Geez!

Legally they cant touch you - see msg

[ In Reply To ..]
I dont have their insurance...but legally they cant touch you,,,you could sue the crap out of them...there is a law that covers you for x amt of time off for medical conditions and they have to take you back...Im not sure of the amout of time check though..Keystrokes, where I used to work, didnt flinch when I took a month off after my disk fusion. The heck with them get the tests and make sure your ok!!!!!

Lab work - Anonymous

[ In Reply To ..]
Lab work is expensive. A CBC, chem panel and a few other basic tests can run into the hundreds of dollars. You have the right to see a doctor, it doesn't necessarily mean you're developing an "expensive medical condition." Medquist can't access your health records without your permission so they'd have no way of knowing what you're being tested for unless you tell them. If they try to terminate you for health reasons, attorneys will be lined up around the block to take your case, and rightfully so. Please don't neglect your health, get the lab work done.

MModal Insurance
Nov 15, 2012

As an employee of MModal, is there anywhere I can go look at what our insurance covers and how much it is a month?  I have always been part time with no insurance here but I may have to go full-time with insurance benefits.  I really need to know if I change status to full time then how long will it be before my insurance would kick in and start paying for medical costs?  Also, how much a month and what are co-pays.  Where on MModal site can I find this information?  Thanks so much! ...

Question About MModal Insurance. Sm
Mar 18, 2013

I am new to MModal. I was excited about the price of our insurance until I learned that every single doctor/specialist that my family sees does not take the insurance. My physician of 20+ years, my 2 daughter's physician, my daughter's counselor, and 2 of my daughter's specialists do not take the insurance. I have NO desire to switch all this around to physicians that do participate. I would rather pay an extra 100.00 a month for an insurance that they all do participate with ...

I just went over the NEW (using the term loosely) insurance for January.. wow.. there is not much change to mention.  Well, except that smokers will have to pay more.  We will still have to pay (single) 2500.00 out of pocket before they will even pay the 75% (my heart goes out to those with families!).  I dont know about the rest of you, but that just dooms me to no benefits to speak of or else to just owe out the wazooo.  I had been told by my physician that I had ...

Health Insurance As An IC
Oct 21, 2010

I am considering becoming self employed (after a fashion) as an IC.  I have gone onto www.healthcare.gov and gone through the steps they advise when you want to take out private insurance.  Holy cow, the insurance plans offered varied in premium cost from $600 to $4000 per month for a family of 4, but the thing that got me was two items:  Maximum out of pocket for individual: 0$.  Annual deductible for individual: 0$.  Woohoo.  This just seems too good to be true.&n ...
