I am about to test for this company. Are there any pointers or tips that I should be aware of prior to testing? If so, what are they. What are they looking for when it comes to the transcription portion of the test? Any answers would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!

Tip: Just allow yourself a decent chunk of time - for the testing process.

If you have acute care experience, the test shouldn't be too bad at all, but you do want to take your time over it and double check everything before you hit those final submit buttons.

Don't waste your time on this company. I would not give them the time of day, much my time taking one of their tests or even working for them. They are the worst ever and I don't care what they said to you, that is, if you have talked to someone and IF you do take the test and pass, which you probably will, don't believe a word they say and you can forget about what they offer you for cpl; because all you will make, that is if you have work, is 4 cpl for voice recognition. Do the math on that one and again don't believe it is faster. How many ways can I say this company sucks!

I don't completely agree with the other posters who just flat out say don't test....

With this company it's hit or miss...some people have plenty of work (for now) and some have constant NJA. What I would advise is to go ahead and test. If you get the job just be prepared to start your search over if necessary if you aren't happy.

To the OP: Take the test since you've arleady decided to do/stay in MT. Meanwhile, be looking for another line of work.

Thanks you guys. I will look to test to see if I will pass. I have been also applying to other things such as customer service positions at home as well. I have alot under my belt. I was just wanting to get back into this field due to school starting up for me in August. So, I still would like to work and go to school and support my kids. If someone could email me personally to let me know what companies will hire me for sure and has work, I would greatly appreciate that as well.

I have taken their test twice now and scored 94/82 first time and 94/72 second time. I have been transcribing for over 15 years and worked for Medquist years ago. I cannot speak to a person or even e-mail, they just say try again in 90 days. I am not going to try again and am very frustrated. I know I did well on the testing and made sure the second time to pay attention to everything. Stumped!! ...

Hello. I have received a call from M-Modal for testing. I am wondering is the pay really that low there? I hear it's 4 cpl speech, 8 cpl straight with some bonuses I am assuming., and probably mainly speech like maybe 90? Does that not make the pay pretty close to minimum wage? Are there many of you that find you can make significantly more than minimum working there? I am assuming part-time does not have benefits. Thank you for the information. ...

I thought they were 2 different services. Everyone is buying out everyone, so who knows. All the small companies have been merged I guess. I thought Nuance was out of New York and were the primary with VR. Maybe one has to keep up with the changes and be a member and pay the dues and go to the meetings with AAMT and be a CMT to keep up with the changes, even though you still get 4 cents. ...

It is truly laughable that MQ expects US MTs to jump through hoops, passing their tests, audits, trying to decipher absolute garbage and paying us like we were 6 month trainees, etc., and then have the audacity to send work to India. I hope MQ gets its due for all the grief they have caused and their role in the demise of this industry! If Verizon were to put them out of business, that would definitely be what they deserve. ...

How are you supposed to know whether to put the headings and text on the same line or put the text on the line under the heading, put a colon after heading or not put a colon? They said they go by BOS, but all I see pertaining to that in the BOS is the sample reports where they put the text under the heading with no colons after the heading. This surgeon dictates the same over and over in multiple reports, and I cannot understand what type of testing this is. "s/l Manuar test reveals 5/5 strength in forward elevation, external rotation, internal rotation, and abduction." "s/l The remainder of Manuar assessment exam of left upper extremity reveals 5/5 strength throughout all major muscle groups." It is getting very hard to even find the energy to test anymore. I have tested till I am blue in the face and dont understand why it is so hard to get a job in this profession. I graduated top of my class with a 3.98 and you would think I would have had a job by now. I tested for a company who stated that my skills were not up to their requirements, which I find very difficult to believe, as I have been in this business for 10 years, nonetheless, I am beginning to wonder if some of these companies are not scamming us. I was required to transcribe four different files with the shortest one being 6 minutes and the longest 12 minutes, but apparently, they were not good enough. Just found out my employer is requiring all employees to take the HITECH test. This is from the law that was passed last year. We were told it would take about 5 hours to complete. I have been working as an IC for many years, acute care, .10/line and usually can do 200 lines/hour. In 2 weeks the hospital is giving their transcription to Medquist!!! I have a phone interview scheduled for Thurs. but am having serious doubts about going through with this.
