Company Testing....... - PMS

I tested for a company who stated that my skills were not up to their requirements, which I find very difficult to believe, as I have been in this business for 10 years, nonetheless, I am beginning to wonder if some of these companies are not scamming us. I was required to transcribe four different files with the shortest one being 6 minutes and the longest 12 minutes, but apparently, they were not good enough. Again, I am baffled as I kept all the files I did and I did not find one error on any of the reports, which brings me to my comment. I believe that my testing dictations were actual files that needed to be transcribed and they used me to do them without compensation. I can't help but wonder how many of us are being used by MTSOs to do their work without being compensated??? If you think about it, they probably have 50-100 people applying for that particular position and if all 50 did four reports, that is 200 reports that they certainly weren't charged for but probably were paid for nonetheless.....
Please, please share the name of this company. I am currently (sm) - Just sayin ...

I passed the written test and she said as soon as I transcribed the two reports she would send me she would be calling me with a job offer. I transcribed the reports and never heard from her again. I have e-mailed twice now, and still no response. So I would agree with you. I think there are some people on here getting free work done. Just shameful!

[ In Reply To ..]and no response. Now, I'm not saying that my test was perfect, but I've been at this long enough and tested with enough companies to be reasonably confident that I did well. So I have to wonder if what the original poster said, that we are being scammed into doing free work!

I just wondered if it had something to do with the time it took me as I did not have a foot pedal to use that would work with my computer (as another message stated about testing without a foot pedal). [ In Reply To ..]You know, I didn't even think of that, but I have been applying at (no kidding) 17 places with 12 years of experience and a lot of them never even get back to me. Not all of these are the common national companies you always hear about, so now I am wondering. Another thing is the websites don't say they aren't hiring right now and then you go through all the testing and get informed of it after the fact. I am giving some of these places a week to respond though as I know they may be bombarded. Sorry to go on so long, you really brought up a great point.

I would do them and not have a single error that I could find and they have all told me that my testing percentages were not high enough. I am a very experienced MT with 10 years of experience and I was baffled as to why this happened. Talk about unethical behavior if this is what the MTSOs are actually doing now so they can get out of paying people for their hard work!!

I have taken so many tests lately with probably dozens of companies. I am wondering how you feel about Nuance tests and if it is harder or easier than the other companies. I personally thought Softscript test was kind of hard, compared with Nuance. Some of the transcription audio files were a little hard with mumbling and fast talking dictators, but really not bad when compared to others. It is truly laughable that MQ expects US MTs to jump through hoops, passing their tests, audits, trying to decipher absolute garbage and paying us like we were 6 month trainees, etc., and then have the audacity to send work to India. How are you supposed to know whether to put the headings and text on the same line or put the text on the line under the heading, put a colon after heading or not put a colon? They said they go by BOS, but all I see pertaining to that in the BOS is the sample reports where they put the text under the heading with no colons after the heading.
