M*MoDal Mequist line pay - Lisa

Posted: May 21, 2012

Question. Above 1800 lines 0.085 cents per line? Or does MQ use different non-incentive pay scale for employees. Can someone explain their pay scheme, if any? Thx

No incentive pay at all at MModal. - rate is rate

If you are paid 4 cpl to edit and 8 cpl to straight type, that is your rate. THere is no incentive at this time.

Sad... no incentive.

PTO/Holiday Pay - Lisa

[ In Reply To ..]
If you come from a company that eliminated PTO and all holiday pay, everything, I assume MQ will adopt the same for me? or will they be nice and offer peanuts?

Not sure why MM would adopt the same PTO as your other company - anon

Each company is its own entity - when you have specific holiday/PTO policies in place at one company, you will have a completely different set of policies at another.

You've had several questions about MM's pay and policies - why not just apply and see what they offer you? It seems better than asking all your questions on MT Stars.

After a buyout, you are an MModal employee & have same benes - as other MModal employees. NM

And MQ Benefits are?? - Lisa
[ In Reply To ..]
Excuse my insistence, but after reading one horrible thing after another about MQ, I just have to ask employees direct. The problem is, I am waiting, and waiting, AND waiting for the information to come. A week to receive basic paperwork after a buyout to me, is a bit long. Yes, all 100+ of us had to bite our nails and ruin a weekend wondering what generic brand of cat food is cheaper, as with anything, our pay WILL go down, I just expect that. Thanks for your assistance. This is my third buyout in my lifetime, first with transcription. Trying to stay ahead of the curve. I could wait, but some of us are parents and got used to asking and directing rather than waiting and wondering years ago.
just like a normal job - msmt

health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401K, life insurance, short term and long term disability, etc.
No PTO/Holiday at MQ? - Lisa
[ In Reply To ..]
I guess by not replying to PTO/Holiday pay, they have none. As for insurance, I don't even think of those as benefits anymore.
Yes PTO. Holiday pay if you work on the holiday - msmt

And, PTO is? Holiday is you work on the day?! - Lisa
[ In Reply To ..]
And their PTO scheme is??? When did the country switch over to getting a paid holiday when you work on the holiday? Did I see that right? No Christmas day pay while I enjoy the season's day? Hummmm.
PTO is according to your average for 6 months. - msmt
[ In Reply To ..]
PTO is different for everyone as it is your own production average over a six month period. Also, that is the way it has been for over 10 years at most MT companies for the holiday pay. You have to take PTO if you want to get paid for holiday pay and be off. Otherwise, you get time and a half for working on the holiday.
Plan on getting stuck sitting there waiting - sm

for work on Christmas & holidays, even though there never is any... If you get any work on a major holiday, you get paid line-and-a-half rate. It's not really a holiday as in you actually get to take a holiday off -- it's just extra line rate for working those days.

I think the PTO is 15 days per year total for full-time employees (which includes any days off, sick days, vacation, etc.).
that is right. usually very little work on holidays. - msmt

Good luck getting to take off though. I have heard a lot of people say they get turned down for their requests off even though there is rarely any work.
new benefit plan coming out on 24th - probably why you are still waiting
[ In Reply To ..]
Us too. We have received hints and promises, but nothing actually tangible until the 24th with open enrollment. Right now the benefits are nothing to be proud of, basically catastrophic medical coverage with high deductible, high premium. Dental is basic and they have short term and long term and life insurance that we can buy. Oh and 401K. Better than nothing I suppose, but not much better and certainly nothing to brag about.

Right now you have to be FT with full benefits (as opposed to PT or FT with limited benefits) to enjoy benefits other than PTO and 401K, but again that could change on the 24th also, but I don't think PT would be getting any more benefits and the only difference between FT full and FT limited is 30 lines per hour. 150 for full and 120 for part.

They held a conference call last week and will be initiating a 401K with a slight match, reduced dental premiums and brought back a decent medical plan that won't cost our whole paycheck for the premium. They also have LT and ST disability and it sounds like are providing more life insurance.

Like I said, anything they do now is a step in the right direction because last year's benefits were downright abysmal.

While I don't envy your situation with the buyout and all, the timing with the new benefits could not have been better. At least you don't have to suffer with subpar benefits plus everything else.

Apr 22, 2010

I do have some benefits with the VR job, but not good enough to even take them on right now.  After 3 months I will start accruing PTO up to 12 days a year.  Is it worth it?  I was thinking having benefits would be really nice for once in the last 16 years, but now I am thinking it may not be worth the struggle to make a living on VR.  They said the platform for transcription is chartnet or chartscript?  What do you all think? ...

VR Line Count - What Kind Of Line Production Should I Shoot For
Mar 24, 2011

I was just hired on with a company to do strictly VR. I am only going to be working part time so about 4 hours a day. I am wondering from those who do VR what kind of line production should I shoot for in 4 hours of work? What is the normal VR line count for part time? I have read that most who are working full time or 8 hours a day are doing more than 1,000, even 2,000 a day. The company I will be working for wants a minimum of 10,000 lines in a payperiod which the lady said even with part time ...

Gross Line Versus 65 Character Line
Aug 19, 2010

Anyone know if 5 cents per gross line is good or not? Better than 10 cents a 65 character line??   A company is offering this to me & says that at least 1/2 of every report is templated but you still get paid for it.  I make 10 cents a 65 character line with the company I work for at this time.  Please advise so I can make a decision to test or not with them.  ...

Line Rate For 65 Printable Character Line
Jul 19, 2011

When a company states a line rate for  a "65 printable character line" does that mean they do not pay for spaces?    I saw an ad saying they pay the highest in the business, which was about 8.5 cents for 65 printable character line.  That to me says without spaces, as it is not a printable character, so that would be a horrible rate surely not one of the best in the business.  Wonder why there is no respect for our thumbs !!!!   ...

MTSOs - Why Anyone Would Do VR For 0.03 Per Line Or Straight Transcription For 0.07 Per Line
Mar 13, 2012

It's beyond me why anyone would do VR for 0.03 per line or straight transcription for 0.07 per line, even 0.08 stinks.  Are we all that desperate to let these companies get away with not paying a living wage?  It's outrageous.  As long as MTs send their resumes to these companies and apply for these positions, the longer it will take to bring us back to the pay level we deserve.   At this point, i'd rather starve then sell my soul to the devil. ...

M*Modal VR
Sep 25, 2010

I have another question.  When one does a draft in VR, does MT get paid for all lines in the draft or would an MT get paid if it has to be edited.  I will be trying to learn this in the next few weeks and I am scared to death I will not catch on and then I might be without a job.   I have a feeling I might not get paid for the whole draft report.  Then again it may depend on the company.  Any opinions please.   Thanks  ...
