I dont understand how some of you - arent doing the MOT

Not only was I told it was mandatory, I was told you would be on PM if you didnt do it.  I have no clue how you get around that, or how its fair to the rest of us who actually do as they are told.  

I need this job.  Its not a luxury to me.  I work my butt off, punch in on time, give 120% every day, and I come here to see all of you bragging how you havent done even an hour!  I cannot fathom how you take those kind of gambles with your employment, or how you square that up in your head that its ok for you to screw the rest of us into doing all the work.  If all of you pitched in, they would call it off sooner, easing up the rest of our loads!  

I would never treat my job, or my fellow MTs with such disrespect as you all display.  Makes me sick to my stomach that I follow all the rules, and Im about to be put in performance management for minor errors while working my behind off!

You all are no better than upper management!

Sorry you feel upset about others not doing "mandatory" OT, but that's really not my problem.

They claim they're going to terminate or put you on PM for not doing MOT. Guess what... they CAN'T AFFORD TO DO THAT. They're all empty threats. So if it bothers you so much that others aren't doing OT and you're stuck with the work, then toughen up and don't do it. They're not going to do anything.

I AGREE 100%+++++ on people NOT working the MOT. THEY SHOULD BE PUT ON PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT. We get dinged for minor errors & are put on PM & some have even lost their jobs (I'm hanging on, 2 more strikes & I'm out). I say if the complainers DON'T WANT TO DO THE MOT OR NEW ACCOUNTS OR WHATEVER, GET A NEW JOB OUT OF THIS FIELD.....yes, it has changed over the years, but what job hasn't....so to the complainers find another line of work...and please managers, put them on PM like they were told. Would make us feel better!

I'm one of those who hasn't done any MOT nor do I plan to. The extra hours usually result in more minor errors and more marks against us. Not to mention after doing transcription for 40 years, I have trouble with carpal tunnel as well as prolonged sitting at a desk. Apparently no one seems to remember when they offered incentives for doing extra work - At first the incentives were really good, then they deteriorated until the incentives weren't really worth much. So now they don't even PRETEND they're giving you anything extra, they just refer to it as "Mandatory" overtime. There are always those who are THRILLED to work the extra so I say more power to them. They're welcome to it. I really don't think they're going to fire anyone for not doing the OT. Especially since obviously they need "all hands on deck". So I do my job; no more, no less. I keep up my LPH and keep down my error rates and if that isn't enough, I really don't care.

And if somehow you would feel better if I were to be put on PM, I think that's your problem. Not mine.

mandatory overtime - phatty

I'm thinking that when it comes to overtime, so people just cannot do it, at least not every single time, as they have other responsibilities outside of work. This is physical and mental work, can take a lot out of you. I think that when you are tired, you are subject to overlook things that bring down your audit, and noone wants to go through that. If you able and want to work overtime when offered, then that's fine. If you cannot, you should not be looked down upon in any way.

for not complying with mandatory OT...not gonna happen its illegal, you cannot cut pay as punishment, besides they have to pay min wage, so in the long run it will COST them money, but go ahead and try I have a lawyer..The more they threaten me, the less I will do..my line count reflects that..But go ahead and allow them to use you,,they will and one day you will be on here complaining like the rest of us who have been screwed over the years..

Empty threats.. By the way, I need an income just as much as the next guy, but as long as there are suck-ups doing all that MOT to keep the HDSMs getting their bonuses, and having more and more taken away, etc,, things will, NEVER get better with this company. I am stuck working 2 evenings and every single Saturday.. I should be getting a shift differential for that......OH WAIT, THEY TOOK THAT a AWAY TOO... And I am too close to retirement to start a new career, so those of you who think it's all wonderful like this and that I should just "find another job',"if I don't like things the way they are..... I'm sticking this out til they fire me or I quit and take my early retirement the end of this year...

MOT - What to do?

I feel for you and your dilemma. I am one of the MTs that will not do MOT, but I told them from the get go, I had another job, and could only work the hours I was given. So far, it has been okay. BTW, I kept all of my communication regarding this.

I would suggest you let them know that you are not available anymore to do MOT, due to other commitments. Tell them, since this job pays so little, you had to find another one.

I know it is scare tactics, but you don't want that dark cloud hanging over you all the time and worrying.

If you do have to do the extra hour, then just type slow and do two reports. I know that is counterproductive money wise, but they are truly abusing the MTs in so many ways and this is just another nail in our coffins!

Somehow, we have to beat them at their own game. They are draining each and every one of us.

Family, friends, and personal obligations are my priority. MM made this situation through poor decisions. Not my problem. I have different priorities and my life does NOT revolve around the ridiculous demands of this company.

That is not a 'gamble'. Why would they fire someone when they need the work done? I'm sorry this company has made you feel this way about your fellow MTs. That is what is sad.

I too do the OT WHEN I CAN. My TSA/HDSM or whatever knows that. Doing it or not doing it is one's own business and insulting them for not doing it doesn't make you any better for doing it.

NOT DOING THE MOT - that is a personal choice, and you have the ability to make the same choice. If you do choose to do the "MOT," DO NOT criticize those of use who have chosen to take a stand and not put up w/them bullying us. I WILL NOT be bullied into do any MOT for a company who does not appreciate its MTs and chooses to reward the wrong parties w/a bonus for bullying us into doing MOT to keep them in TAT. I haven't done any MOT, will not do any MOT, and have not been punished for NOT doing the MOT. Quite frankly, I'm already married, and I like him MUCH better! I have a family, they come first, not a company who could care less, and I'm sure they are spending time w/their family! ;)

Addendum to my prior comment regarding MOT: I, too, told my HDSM that I could not do MOT due to prior commitments; those commitments being my family, etc. I was very honest w/her regarding my feelings regarding MOT, and even asked her if she was being pulled off her job to help w/this work load, which she didn't answer. I know for sure the reason our work load is so high is that MModal keeps taking on new clients, knowing they do not have enough MTs to cover this work load, but it is more important for them to TRY to be the #1 transcription company in the world, which they will never be not only because they do not have enough MTs, but simply because of the fact that they do not care about their employees. If you are one of them who thinks they care about you, in time you'll come to realize they don't, just like the rest of us. These are simple facts, so hang in there, you'll realize it in time. You can DISLIKE this post as much as you want; trust me, it doesn't hurt my feelings. :)

My attitude has always been, if I am doing what I need to be doing, I don't care what anyone else is doing. Same goes for pay. I find it best not to concern myself with others' situation, just my own, and my relationship with my employer.

As to you doing the OT and others "getting away" with not doing it, do they call you and mandate you do more because others are not cooperating?

when you treat your employees like crap, cut their pay in the range of 10-15,000 dollars a year with your crappy ASR you can kiss it,,,IM NOT DOING IT..15 years ago, we would have happily helped out, at least I know I would have.

go work another job and only got that other job because I lost 15,000 a year in pay with all the changes over the years. So if they don't like it that I have another job and cannot do MOT then they can put me back to my other pay and 1 primary account and I will quit other job.

I will do it the MOT, but am really cutting back on - how hard I work.

So I did my 9 hrs yesterday and did a little over 1400 lines. I can do 1600 in 8 hrs much more easily. I can do 1000 in 3 hrs. I'm old. I get tired. The fewer hours I work, the more I can do. MOT is very counter-productive.

I can't do many more lines that that even if you make me sit here 8 hrs. The MTSOs understood that. That's why we were paid per line & didn't punch a clock.....

Then you should quit doing it. I don't. More mistakes they can use against us are made in that time. It is counterproductive. The very first week they required MOT, I did an extra 8 hours, and you know what? My pay was within $5 of what my pay was just doing my scheduled 40. It doesn't pay. Besides that, the HDSMs get bonuses when the work meets TAT...THATS why they send out all the pleas and even to the point of threatening "to take the necessary action..." blah blah blah if you don't work MOT or change you schedule,etc. Nothing will EVER change for the better as long as there are those of you always falling for that bluff.

That's just another thing this company did that is unfair. Some managers enforce the rules, and others don't. It was that way when I worked here, and that's one of the reasons I no longer do.

I really seriously cannot stand when the work volumes are low, having to bounce around from account to account, in and out of our own BOB. It is hard enough trying to juggle the multiple number of accounts and all of their demands in the profiles, but having to go into another BOB is just plain ridiculous. Has there ever been a union for transcriptionists?  I have never heard of one, but have often wondered if that would be beneficial.  I mean if the people want it..why not.  But I don't reallly know about how these unions and things work.  Maybe Ive watched too much TV, but it seems like back in the day when they had unions, nobody made a move without consulting the union.  The Teamsters...that is what I'm thinking of.  Again, It's just a memory to me ...

Dont Clock Out Or Locked Out?

So, now if we have to go to the bathroom or some other thing that pulls away from the computer, we dont clock out otherwise we will be locked out for the shift?  What, it is no big thing anymore if we are on the clock but doing something else?  Doesnt that defeat MQ purpose of getting the work done.  If I get locked out, I cant finish my shift so they cant get all the work done.  Its okay for me, I will have a free afternoon, LOL, but it hurts MQ turn around time.  This& ...
