Has anyone passed these audits? - sm

Posted: Apr 02, 2014

I have yet to pass one, how the heck, with say 3 minor errors can you possible pass these things? I want to quit so badly but have no prospective jobs. So the question boils down to basically, is at what percentage of errors are they firing people? 99.5, 99 what? I just cannot see how this is possible to do. My thoughts are that they are going to try this stupid goal and see who comes the closest to the 99.7% unrealistic BS and keep them. I also cannot see how the Indians are doing this, so that would leave a discrimination case wide OPEN!! There is no way on God's green earth they are passing, not with their punctuation problems. We need to band together NOW!! I truly think discrimination is the best angle.

Yep and how about HOSTILE WORK ENVIRONMENT - MTPeep

I have friends who are lawyers in the Grand Old State of Tennessee, work place law is their specialty, and we have "spoken". Harassment, hostile work environment, the old NJA crap. A gold mine for lawyers. So, let's spread the gold. THIS IS AMERICA, last I looked.

how could anyone dislike that post? This is where - MTPeep

we will NEVER get the conditions in our industry back in our favor, which at this point, is simply to treat us like human beings again. Hostile work environment is what we are ALL feeling and being subject to. Most of us are sick over this 99.7% crap, sick to see a work email, downtrodden, barely surviving as our wages are slashed in every conceivable way. The terms keep changing on us, up the ante, and we have no voice. But we should have a voice. We cannot be treated this way, but we are allowing it. Why? We have rights. We do. But unless we demand them, or stick up for ourselves, this will never stop.

Just a brief definition: A hostile work environment exists when an employee experiences workplace harassment and fears going to work because of the offensive, intimidating, or oppressive atmosphere generated by the harasser.[1][2]

A hostile work environment may also be created when management acts in a manner designed to make an employee quit in retaliation for some action. For example, if an employee reported safety violations at work, was injured, attempted to join a union, or reported regulatory violations by management, then their response might be to harass and pressure the employee to quit. Employers have tried to force employees to quit by imposing unwarranted discipline, reducing hours, cutting wages, or transferring the complaining employee to a distant work location. The employer and the employee often mistakenly believe that if the employee quits his or her job due to the hostile work environment, the employee cannot get unemployment benefits and cannot sue the employer.

In many states within the USA, this is true; but in others neither is true. [3]

I think this is true in Missouri - they have a lawyer who

specializes in cases where people are being forced out by hostile environment.
There are a legion of lawyers who just chase after MQ. - MTPeep

They are still out there, waiting, since they know "the best predictor of future behavior is past". And I have never had qualms with the lawyers getting a huge percentage. They earn it, and we have benefited by wrong conditions being righted, and monetary compensation when appropriate. Over these long years, all it took was one brave MT to stand up to them and pursue whatever course she needed to pursue, and we all reaped the benefits after class action after class action. I think most falls under federal law, as well as individual state law. We are just so easily herded into silence, because we are women and because we are all remote. That is something they take advantage of. Its a shame we cannot unite. But there ultimately is always 1 brave soul who gets fed up enough to do something. Sometimes 1 person can cause change. But can you imagine the change a group could make? Even just publicity on the conditions we endure daily. Its a disgrace.

We might as well be working for the same company. The complaints on your board and our board are basically the same. We need to rise up and do something, but we are afraid. You are so right. We are women. We need our jobs and have been beaten into submission and silence by the abuse. It would be great if a retired person or someone with nothing to lose would go public in a big way.

That if it was ever discovered that Nuance and MModal were the same company operating with 2 different names I would not be a BIT surprised. I too have noticed the exact identical posts on both boards, it's almost hard to believe we are working for 2 separate companies, with our work conditions being so identical.

While I technically need this money to make my house payment..I already did a chapter whatever bankruptcy where I make payments to pay off all my debts. I am going to talk to my bankruptcy lawyer and see if he knows any labor lawyers in my area that he can hook me up with. This further pay reduction is going to cost me my house at this point, so really I no longer have anything to lose. I'll run with it I'll let you know what he says, may not be able to get in until next week or so.
Am on it, too. The problem for us but the total advantage for them - MTPeep
[ In Reply To ..]
MM or Nuance, and yes, they may as well be one.. is also our isolation. They use this to do all this garbage to us. We don't know each other, and its scary to reach out to each other, because, yes, management is all over this board. So, they have all the advantages, and we have none, but fear and paranoia, yet all valid. I'm working on it, too. I don't have the time either, but I'm tired of feeling like a 3rd world citizen. We are the new India. NO MORE.
actually, I don't feel like a 3rd world citizen, I LIVE like one now - MTPeep

its got to stop. Worrying about FOOD money, let alone just surviving. We work our butts off and just are getting annihilated economically and emotionally, physical toll, etc. I don't have to preach to the choir, but I am done being silent. I'll find someone to listen, even if their motive is financial gain as well. I don't care, as long as it may help us, and me.

I'm talking about a blast to the media! - Nuance MT
[ In Reply To ..]
I'm not on social media, but what about twitter, facebook or investigative TV news shows? Lawyers are good to get involved, too, but they may not be needed to get the initial word out. We need to stand on principle here that our jobs are being outsourced to a third-world country at the expense of tens of thousands of Americans!
I agree - MTPeep
[ In Reply To ..]
I agree... media coverage just to show our conditions. Pandora's box of garbage to expose. What about internet reimbursement alone? We lost that. They have ZERO overhead with us. Now we have to pay for even internet to do their work. And that is just one teeny issue. NJA garbage, no work, yet we wait, and now we have to make up the time the same day that there was no work, the impossible accuracy scores, ILP, oh and lets not forget PAYING FOR QA to NOT fill in the blanks. Unfair business practices, likely double standards for our global partners. Yes, would make interesting news for someone. And yes, I last tried to rally at the advent of the discovery of offshoring.
My biggest gripe is the PAY CUT. - Nuance MT
[ In Reply To ..]
It's impossible to make a living on these wages. When my former company was acquired by Nuance, my wages were cut 40%. The other stuff is bad, too, but for me personally, the 40% pay cut is the worst. Also, the more I'm picked apart by the QC/QA gestapo, the more mistakes I make. I am a veteran MT and always did an outstanding job, but apparently not anymore.
Yes, the pay cuts are horrific, but that won't be one that - MTPeep

violates any labor laws. If they are violating labor laws, perhaps that attention would improve the pay situation. That is where they rely on 'at will' employment. If we don't like the pay, we are free to leave. So, my focus has to be on other "conditions of our industry", which can be remedied if in violation. See, they've made me numb enough to even forget pay rates.
Media does not care unless a patient was injured or privacy violated. - that did not work either years back
[ In Reply To ..]
Many years ago, when an ILP threatened to put patient reports on the internet, there was plenty of posturing by politicians to make themselves look good, but after news media moved onto newer stories, the issue dissolved into obscurity. The only result of this instance was that clients had to be offered to opt out of ILP outsourcing.

As anyone can see, hospitals and physician groups have chosen the cheap route.
that is the key point. do they all know their work is done by ILP? - MTPeep
[ In Reply To ..]
that is the million dollar, or maybe billion dollar question.
Nobody cares - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
Absolutely nobody cares, not even the patients.

Consider the many many announcements by banks and financial institutions that their clients' account passwords, credit card numbers and personal information was "unexpectedly" compromised by website hackers and security breeches. Nobody bats an eye. Nobody says a word. MILLIONS of people out there with their personal and financial information floating around God knows where and nobody even blinks. What makes anyone think they're going to care one bit if their health information is compromised?

NOBODY CARES.

doctors care and do NOT want their work done globally, not at all. I do think patients would care, too, if they just understood. Where I live, people are FREAKING out over the hacks at Target, etc. HUGE uproar and most people won't shop at Target to date. And I do know there are hospital systems as well who do NOT want their work offshored globally. I think that's what management and corporate wants us to think - nobody cares. They would, if they had knowledge. Knowledge is always power. Human interest story, for the conditions we American women endure, moms, wives, sisters, daughters. Might shame the companies into treating us better. Heck, I'd take it. Most important, we won't know who cares until we TRY. That one rogue Indian MT was treated as such. But if everyone was aware of our working conditions, someone would care, and it just might make a difference. Certainly worth a shot, rather than us all just suffer and vent on here, which guarantees NO result,

They have NO CLUE - ci

[ In Reply To ..]
The whole situation with what has happened to the transcription profession is because the people at Nuance and MM that are in charge have no clue about transcription. I think the media would care that we're doing things we don't get paid for. If you're IC, I could understand. That's basically being self-employed and there will be things you don't get paid for, but if you're an employee, there would be big problems with that if the media knew it. These companies advertise bonuses, etc. but then figure out a way not to have to pay them. They also need to figure out they're actually losing money by paying people to look for ridiculous errors when they could just be paying us what we earn. Guess they missed the memo on how you should try to keep your employees happy. On MSN today, there is a big story about how managers at McDonald's forced employees to work without pay. Trust me, the media would love it.
