Passed the CCS today - Raine59

Posted: May 01, 2012

Well I passed the CCS today but didn't think I was going to as I didn't feel like it was going very well. I am an Andrews grad but have not worked as a coder so far.

Congrats to you!!! I'm hoping to be right there with you in a couple of months, in Andrews right now. What a great accomplishment. Good luck and thanks for posting.

Congratulations! I think it's awesome that you passed the CCS exam.

Did you talk with any of the others who took the test at the same time? What kinds of comments did you hear? Did they think the test was hard? Easy? I've heard that sometimes people walk out because it's too hard. Tell us more, please.

About the CCS - Raine59

Well the CCS testing is done differently than the CPC. With the CPC, you are in a room with a whole lot of other people taking the same test. (I took it last year). But the CCS is given at Pearson Vue which administers dozens if not hundreds of different tests all given on a computer and everyone is taking a different test. So I'm quite sure I was the only one taking the CCS. But among other people I have heard talk about it here on the form, I've never heard anyone say it was easy and most people seem to finish it thinking they've failed.

In last module at Andrews.... - Anon

Congratulations to you!!!!

Cannot wait to finish and sit for the CCS and CPC exams!!! However, I am taking this last module very slow, making sure I absorb it all in, as it seems like it is repeat of what we learned in the beginning of the course, but now it just seems to make more sense. I feel like it is all coming together, as before I felt kind of lost.

Cant wait to get out of transcription and into coding!!!
I'm there with ya anon! - PJM

Oh am I there with you! I am in the last module as well and anxious about getting finished, but trying to go slower and making sure I absorb everything as well. I am soooooo ready to get out of transcription, too! Good luck to you! :)
I think that's the way it's planned - sm

When you are first at the very beginning, it all seems very easy. Then you hit the hard part and it seems impossibly hopeless, until all of a sudden it all makes sense. I think that's the way it's planned. It makes sense after the fact, but not while you're going through the tough parts.
I know!!!! - anon

there were so many times in the middle of the course where I felt like giving up.... It was just so hard and I thought I could never remember all the guidelines and rules and exception to the rules, etc... but now that I just started the last module... its all so clear. I know they state that in their opening letter upon enrolling... so they probably do plan it out that way. Its a great way to learn!!! I feel like after this module I can go sit for the CCS and pass and be able to be an excellent inpatient coder. Im so excited! I would recommend Andrews without a doubt. Best school ever!

SOOO happy for you! - cjjmt

Hope to pass the test soon, still have some time to go. There are so many jobs out there for coders. Good luck to you!
It would be helpful to hear your take on how difficult you thought the testing was, how others felt and if you required all the time allowed or got it done sooner. TIA!!!

more on the CCS - Raine59

I'd recommend you start with the CPC as it is a lot easier. On the CCS, the multiple choice was pretty easy, it was the actual coding that was difficult. They do give you just the number of spaces you need so you know how many of each type of code you need. But there were some that had way more slots for diagnosis codes than I could find things for. You have to put SOMETHING in each space so some of them I just had to put in all zeroes. I thought that you were allowed an hour for the multiple choice section and 3 hours for the actual coding part but it was just 4 hours for the whole thing. I finished about 30 minutes early. As I said in another post, I was the only one taking it as the other people there were taking other tests.

Congratulations Raine59! - Hopeful CMT

Hey congratulations! How hard was the test? A lot of people are saying that a lot don't pass the first time. I thought they were fooling me at first. I'm going for my CCS-P towards fall. :)

Are you also an Andrews student/grad? - nm

Passed The CPC-H Certification!
Sep 25, 2012

I just got my results in the mail from AAPC that I passed the certification exam for CPC-H! I have been an MT for decades and when my last in-house MT job was outsourced, I decided I'd better get moving on to coding. Coding is very difficult and I had quite a time completing the online CPC-H course offered by AAPC. I started in the Spring and just got certified. I want all the MTs out there to know that terminology, A&P are helpful to already know! It was not easy to get this certificat ...

Has Anyone Passed These Audits?
Apr 02, 2014

I have yet to pass one, how the heck, with say 3 minor errors can you possible pass these things? I want to quit so badly but have no prospective jobs. So the question boils down to basically, is at what percentage of errors are they firing people? 99.5, 99 what? I just cannot see how this is possible to do. My thoughts are that they are going to try this stupid goal and see who comes the closest to the 99.7% unrealistic BS and keep them. I also cannot see how the Indians are doing this, s ...

Passed Up A Great Job Offer

So on a whim I applied when I saw a job opening at the same hospital that outsourced the entire transcription department. I was offered the job and accepted it but my husband was so stressed abo ...
